Thelma and Louise meets The First Wives Club in First Folio Theatre's Chicago premiere of WOMEN IN JEOPARDY, previewing Jan. 24-26, opening Jan. 27 and closing Feb. 25, 2018. Written by Wendy MacLeod, author of The House of Yes, Schoolgirl Figure and Things Being What They Are, this biting comedy explores the lives of best friends and divorcees Mary, Jo and Liz who are always looking out for each other. When Mary and Jo start to suspect that Liz's new boyfriend is a serial killer, they begin an investigation to prove it to her and save her life. However, when they bring Liz's teenage daughter Amanda into it, along with her spaced-out boyfriend Trenner, things go from humorously tricky to hilariously complex.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents Watch on the Rhine, Lillian Hellman's 1940s political thriller about loyalty, family, and sacrifice. The play, directed by Berkeley Rep's associate director Lisa Peterson, begins previews on Thursday, November 30, 2017 and runs through Sunday, January 14, 2018. The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today that is now accepting script submissions for the 2018 National Playwrights Conference. Writers may submit their new plays to the O'Neill's Open Submissions Process through Friday, October 13, 2017.

Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director/Jim Bredeson, Managing Director) today announced that their seventh annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes will feature two brand new commissions from Dael Orlandersmith and Arthur Kopit, alongside 6 brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. The 2017 Short New Play Festival will be presented on Monday July 24th (7:30pm) at Lucille Lortel Theatre, directed by Craig Baldwin and Evan Yionoulis. Casts will include Tina Benko, Bill Buell, Robert Clohessy, Emily Donahoe, Clifton Duncan, Teresa Avia Lim, Joan MacIntosh, Nadine Malouf, Howard W. Overshown, Alfredo Narciso, and Linda Powell.

It's called the 'Summer Slide'. Students lose literacy skills over summer vacation before returning to school in the fall. This summer, The United Way of San Diego County is committed to those children who need the most support in maintaining their reading. The U.S. Department of Education reports that 80-percent of low-income children are reading below level by fourth grade. These struggling readers are six times less likely to graduate from high school on time.

Bergen County Players (BCP) concludes its 84th season with a staged reading of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Conceived by BCP alum Brian Shnipper and directed by Mark Rinis, this anthology of monologues and short plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. The show will only run two nights, June 10 and 11 at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell. Pioneer Theatre Company presents The Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Revue, running May 5 - 20, 2017. The musical was the toast of Broadway when it premiered in 1991, winning the 1991 Tony Award for best musical.

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional theatre in residence at Oakes Center in Summit, is producing the New Jersey Premiere of Wendy MacLeod's Things Being What They Are. This seriocomedy, written by the Artistic Director of the Kenyon Playwrights Conference, was originally produced at Seattle Rep and then had an extended run at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre. Things Being What They Are runs April 20 - May 7, 2017.

What happens when kids have the world at their feet, and its weight on their shoulders? Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents the Los Angeles premiere of Punk Rock, a ferociously funny, complex and unnerving play by Tony Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) that peels back the layers of teen angst for a deeper look at what might make one of them snap. Lisa Jamesdirects for a March 25 opening at the Odyssey Theatre.

Subtitled "A Suburban Jacobean Play," MacLeod's shocking The House of Yes is most famous for being a critically acclaimed indie film starring Parker Posey. Custom Made proudly presents a new look at this modern classic. Directed by Stuart Bousel (Grey Gardens, the Musical) and featuring Caitlin Evenson, Shelley Lynn Johnson*, Elliot Lieberman, Juliana Lustenader*, and Casey Robbins. The House of Yes runs March 30 - April 29 at Custom Made Theatre, 533 Sutter Street in San Francisco.
