Thelma and Louise meets The First Wives Club in First Folio Theatre's Chicago premiere of WOMEN IN JEOPARDY, previewing Jan. 24-26, opening Jan. 27 and closing Feb. 25, 2018. Written by Wendy MacLeod, author of The House of Yes, Schoolgirl Figure and Things Being What They Are, this biting comedy explores the lives of best friends and divorcees Mary, Jo and Liz who are always looking out for each other. When Mary and Jo start to suspect that Liz's new boyfriend is a serial killer, they begin an investigation to prove it to her and save her life. However, when they bring Liz's teenage daughter Amanda into it, along with her spaced-out boyfriend Trenner, things go from humorously tricky to hilariously complex.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents Watch on the Rhine, Lillian Hellman's 1940s political thriller about loyalty, family, and sacrifice. The play, directed by Berkeley Rep's associate director Lisa Peterson, begins previews on Thursday, November 30, 2017 and runs through Sunday, January 14, 2018. Red Bull Theater Announces Line-Up for Short New Play Festival

Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director/Jim Bredeson, Managing Director) today announced that their seventh annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes will feature two brand new commissions from Dael Orlandersmith and Arthur Kopit, alongside 6 brand new plays chosen from hundreds of submissions from playwrights across the country. The 2017 Short New Play Festival will be presented on Monday July 24th (7:30pm) at Lucille Lortel Theatre, directed by Craig Baldwin and Evan Yionoulis. Casts will include Tina Benko, Bill Buell, Robert Clohessy, Emily Donahoe, Clifton Duncan, Teresa Avia Lim, Joan MacIntosh, Nadine Malouf, Howard W. Overshown, Alfredo Narciso, and Linda Powell.
San Diego Theatre Connection Launches The Summer of The United Way: Laughter and Literacy

It's called the 'Summer Slide'. Students lose literacy skills over summer vacation before returning to school in the fall. This summer, The United Way of San Diego County is committed to those children who need the most support in maintaining their reading. The U.S. Department of Education reports that 80-percent of low-income children are reading below level by fourth grade. These struggling readers are six times less likely to graduate from high school on time.

Bergen County Players (BCP) concludes its 84th season with a staged reading of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Conceived by BCP alum Brian Shnipper and directed by Mark Rinis, this anthology of monologues and short plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. The show will only run two nights, June 10 and 11 at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell.
