Capital Productions is bringing back live performances with the musical Hello, Dolly! This classic piece has music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart. It is based on Thornton Wilder's play The Merchant of Yonkers from 1930, which he renamed The Matchmaker in 1955.

University Press of Kentucky author Carol Boggess has been named the winner of the 2018 Weatherford Award for Non-Fiction for her biography James Still: A Life. The award is presented annually by Berea College and the Appalachian Studies Association to outstanding books of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry that showcase unique aspects of Appalachian life and culture. It was created in 1970 to honor the lives and legacies of W.D. Weatherford Sr. and his son Willis D. Weatherford Jr.

During his thirty-three-year tenure at Western Kentucky University, he helped build programs in the discipline in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio, and worked tirelessly to promote regional voices by presenting the work of others as often as he did his own. An innovative poet, essayist, and short story writer, Miller was one of the founding fathers and animating spirits of the Appalachian renaissance. ‚ÄúJim was the first person I ever heard talk about such a thing as Appalachian writing,‚ÄĚ said novelist Robert Morgan.
