The Music Center today announced the opening of its 2018-2019 dance season with the Los Angeles premiere of Company Wayne McGregor's Autobiography (October 5-7, 2018), a contemporary dance portrait that fuses science and the human form. Known for choreography that examines life through the experience of the body, British choreographer and director Wayne McGregor, CBE based Autobiography on the sequencing of his own genome, compiling 23 different sequences that are performed in varying order each night. McGregor uses a computer algorithm to determine the selection and order of the 23 sections prior to each performance, ensuring audiences will experience a performance that will never be repeated.

K'Arts Ballet of Korea will present the American premiere of Song of the Mermaid, a fantasy ballet choreographed by SunHee Kim, running October 20 and 21 at New York City Center. Song of the Mermaid, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved tale 'The Little Mermaid,' will star Kimin Kim, principal dancer of Mariinsky Ballet, and feature 40 dancers and an original score composed by Hana Ryou.

Joffrey Board Chair Zachary Lazar and President & CEO Greg Cameron are thrilled to welcome former Joffrey dancer John Mark Giragosian to the Joffrey Board of Directors. Giragosian becomes the first former Company-turned-Board member in Joffrey history. Board members serve as the governing body of the Joffrey, providing leadership, overseeing policy and direction, and are responsible for the fiscal accountability of the organization. Mayor Rahm Emanuel serves as the Honorary Chair of the Joffrey's Board.

Four of the top Korean shows to be presented at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe will be giving an exclusive sneak peek in London this week. Last year saw an impressive presence from Korea at the Fringe, and they'll be following up on last year's successes with more than ten new and returning shows. As part of the Korea/UK 2017-18 Season, an invited audience of industry and press will be able to view twenty-minute excerpts of four shows - two theatre, one music and one physical theatre - at Lilian Baylis Studio prior to their performances in Edinburgh.

After world premiere performances of Didy Veldman's The Knot in Ipswich and Guildford in February, and Meghan marrying Harry in May, wedding fever continues this autumn with an 11-venue tour of Veldman's dance theatre take on matrimony. In The Knot, by Dutch-born choreographer and director Veldman, a cast of seven exceptional dancers play the roles of the bride, groom, best man and bridesmaids, and audience members become the wedding guests as the evening and celebrations unfold.

New York City Ballet announced today the programming for Principal Dancer Joaquin De Luz's farewell performance, which will take place on October 14 at 3pm, closing the Company's 2018 Fall Season. After a 15-year career with New York City Ballet, for his final performance De Luz will dance 'Theme and Variations' from George Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Suite No. 3, Jerome Robbins' A Suite of Dances, and Peter Martins' Todo Buenos Aires. Also on the program will be Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, a personal favorite of De Luz's, which he will not perform that afternoon.
