The Off Broadway Alliance, an organization of Off-Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents, and marketing professionals, has announced the nominees for the 11th Annual Off-Broadway Alliance Awards, honoring commercial and not-for-profit productions that opened Off Broadway during the 2021-2022 season. 

Film Forum will present two special screenings honoring celebrated writer-director-actor-artist André Gregory: MY DINNER WITH ANDRÉ (1981), Louis Malle’s groundbreaking comedy-drama written by and starring Gregory and Wallace Shawn on Monday, May 9 at 8:00 in 35mm; and ANDRÉ GREGORY: BEFORE AND AFTER DINNER, the documentary on Gregory’s life and work, directed by his wife, Cindy Kleine (a Film Forum premiere in 2013) on Wednesday, May 11 at 8:00. In-person Q&As and a book signing of This is Not My Memoir, a collaboration between Gregory and Todd London, will follow both screenings.

Audible Inc., the leading creator and provider of premium audio storytelling, today announced a new slate of Audible Original theater titles, debuting exclusively on Audible on March 3, 2022. These titles continue to deliver the theater experience to a wider audience, through audio.

The first 2022 session of Theatre 40's popular series of Monday Night Seminars will be conducted on Zoom. Each date of the series will feature the reading of a play by Theatre 40's actors, followed by a Q&A period. The theme of this session is Strange Plays for Strange Days.. The series is moderated by Melanie MacQueen and John Leslie. Each reading will be directed by either Ms. MacQueen or Mr.Leslie.

An extension has been announced of the critically-acclaimed production of ASSEMBLE, created by David Blackman, Talya Chalef, and Jess Kaufman. ASSEMBLE, a self-guided socially distanced, solo experience will continue at a location in Brooklyn, to be revealed post-ticket purchase.

The New Group has announced two new appointments to its staff. Emily Bookwalter has been named as its Director of External Affairs starting October 25, 2021. Shariffa Ali has also been named as its Director of Artistic Projects starting November 2, 2021.

The Grand Rapids Symphony has announced their 2021-22 concert season of live music planned for in person audiences at DeVos Performance Hall beginning this fall!

A new slate of fall programming has been announced for Audible Theater, including three more shows staged live at the Minetta Lane Theatre and four Audible Originals. Highlights include: And So We Walked, An Evening with Solea Pfeiffer, and Approval Junkie.

Soho Rep. today announced a robust 2021-22 season with which it will reopen its home at 46 Walker Street. The company welcomes full-capacity in-person audiences back for the first time since late 2019 with the presentation of works-in-progress from the Writer/Director Lab, a signature program of the theater for over two decades.

The Fever, written by three-time Obie Award winner Wallace Shawn, directed by two-time Obie Award winner Scott Elliott, and starring three-time Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor, will play 18 performances only from Friday, October 8 – Sunday, October 24 at the Minetta Lane Theatre, Audible’s home for live entertainment in New York.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic performs the world premiere of The Princess Bride in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl for one night only, Saturday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m. Led by conductor David Newman and in synch with the film, the LA Phil will play an adaptation for full orchestra of Mark Knopfler’s Grammy-nominated score.

The New Group Off Stage has announced additional weeks for the current streaming-on-demand version of Waiting for Godot, by Samuel Beckett, directed by Scott Elliott, with Ethan Hawke, John Leguizamo, Wallace Shawn, Tarik Trotter and Drake Bradshaw.  

A highly-familiar actor on both screens, big and small; Wallace Shawn will be premiering two podcasts of his playwrighting prowess - THE DESIGNATED MOURNER beginning June 25, 2021; and GRASSES OF A THOUSAND COLORS on July 9, 2021. André Gregory directs both audio six-parters with Larry Pine and Deborah Eisenberg joining Wallace in THE DESIGNATED MOURNER; and Jennifer Tilly, Julie Hagerty, and Emily Cass McDonnell joining Wallace in GRASSES OF A THOUSAND COLORS.

Award-winning theatre company Son of Semele Ensemble is announcing its departure from their Silver Lake home of 18 years. Led by Founding Artistic Director Matthew McCray since 2000, the company has been in residence at 3301 Beverly Boulevard in a black box theatre they created in 2003. 

The New Group in partnership with Nō Studios announces Off Stage Talks, a series of online panels and events to coincide with Waiting for Godot, currently streaming on-demand to June 30 at thenewgroup.org.  

Gideon Media will premiere multiple scripted fiction podcasts beginning in June, with distribution from public media organization PRX. These new series will be offered free on-demand to listeners across all platforms where podcasts may be found.
