During her musically spectacular performance at 54 Below last night Ann playfully introduces her pianist as George Gershwin. Ted Rosenthal may probably be able to play Gershwin's music with more accuracy than the composer did. However, I'm sure George Gershwin would never be able to accompany Ann as good as Ted Rosenthal does.

An invitation only reading of Jean Giebel's new play Chasing the River was just presented at New World Stages yesterday, November 10th. Directed by Will Nunziata, the reading featured Tony nominee Carolee Carmello(Scandalous: The Life and Trials of Aimee Semple McPherson), Tony winner Cady Huffman (The Producers, The Nance, Curb Your Enthusiasm), Tony nominee Marc Kudisch (9 to 5, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lincoln Center's A Minister's Wife), Deborah Rayne ('Nurse Jackie,' 'Unforgettable,'Spirits of Exit Eleven), Arturo Ruiz ('Broad City', 'Sunbelt Express') and Ella Dershowitz (Intimacy, HBO's 'Phil Spector'). Endearing, brilliantly funny and always entertaining, she gives us a peek into the life of a performer juggling Hollywood, Broadway and starting a family. Singing an eclectic array of songs and sharing extraordinary backstage stories, Katie takes us on a comical and poignant pilgrimage to her greatest destination yet: home. Expect to hear songs ranging from Stephen Sondheimto Ingrid Michaelson, with homages to Betty Hutton and Julie Andrews in between.
