Sometimes there are shows below 54th street that make you want to come up above street level and shout...."hey everybody, come down here, you gotta see this". That's the type of evening Our Guy Cy is. Composer Cy Coleman wrote some of the greatest Broadway tunes you will ever hear and they have been brilliantly selected and packaged in a show conceived & directed by Will Nunziata and produced by Wayne J. Gmitter.
It's stunningly performed by Tony Award winner Randy Graff, Tony Award winner Cady Huffman, and Two-Time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye. Unlike the spin on those political debates, this is one of the few times that a press release's description announcing "an unforgettable theatrical event" is entirely accurate. These three women originated roles in a Cy Coleman musical, and were chosen and coached by the musical icon. They have the Cy anecdotes and the vocal/acting ability to make this show the consummate performance of some of the best tunes ever written. You will hear the lyrics of Comden & Green, Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh, Michael Stewart, Joseph McCarthy, and David Zippel. Eugene Gwozdz music director/pianist conducts a great "little big band". The orchestrations by Euguene and some of the best arrangers in the business are authentic Broadway.
Run downstairs to Feinstein's/54 Below for this one, but it's only playing one more time, tonight November 13 at 9:30.
