OPERA San Antonio Has Received NEA Art Works Grant

OPERA San Antonio is has announced the addition of a winter performance series to commence this February for the first time in the company's five-year history. The Capulets and Montagues is a beautiful interpretation of the iconic love story of Romeo and Juliet by Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini. OPERA San Antonio will present this lesser-known treasure of 19th century Italian opera in an experimental concert version at the University of the Incarnate Word on February 13th and 15th, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.
Boston Lyric Opera Presents NORMA

For its first production of Vincenzo Bellini's 1831 masterwork, NORMA, in nearly 40 years, Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) brings back the international star it introduced to the U.S. just over two years ago. Elena Stikhina makes her debut in one of opera's most technically demanding roles a?' a powerful Druid priestess whose affair with the general of a warring Roman faction brings personal grief and despair. The Russian-born soprano made her American debut in BLO's 2017 production of Tosca. Her subsequent national and international acclaim includes a lauded 2018 Metropolitan Opera debut in Puccini's Il Trittico. Best known for its star-making aria a?oeCasta Diva,a?? BLO presents Bellini's dramatic bel canto opera for five performances from March 13-22 at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at BLO.org.

Green Space has announced a diverse roster of artists for its signature programs this September. Take Root will present an evening of work by Elisabetta Minutoli and Beau Dobson & Dancers, curated by Chris Ferris, on December 13th and 14th, and Fertile Ground showcases works-in-progress by multiple dance artists on December 15th.

Boston Ballet returns to Jacob's Pillow for the first time in over a decade, performing in the Ted Shawn Theatre, August 21-25. Under the artistic directorship of Mikko Nissinen since 2001, Boston Ballet is recognized worldwide for repertoire that is a?oeone of the most eclectic in the countrya?? (The New York Times). Boston Ballet's program includes excerpts of William Forsythe's critically acclaimed Playlist (EP), which pairs Forsythe's daring choreography to a soundtrack pulled straight from today's top charts; as well as Pas de Quatre and Rodin by Russian classical choreographer Leonid Yakobson; and resident choreographer Jorma Elo's Bach Cello Suites.
Valley Of The Moon Music Festival Announces Full Summer Program

Valley of the Moon Music Festival, the nation's first and only organization devoted to presenting chamber music from the Classical era to the early 20th-century performed on instruments built when the music was written, has announced its full summer program including five new apprentices and three guest lecturers. Returning to the Hanna Center Auditorium in Sonoma July 14 - 28, the Festival will make a musical tour of several influential European salons including those of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel in Leipzig, Sara Levy in Berlin and Winnaretta Singer, "Princesse de Polignac," in Paris.
Utah Opera Presents A Semi-Staged Concert Version Of Bellini's NORMA

Utah Opera presents a night of thrilling music and dramatic narrative with Vincenzo Bellini's "Norma," in a semi-staged production at Abravanel Hall on May 4 at 7:30 PM and May 6 at 7 PM. This new production of "Norma,", created by Utah Opera's Costume Shop and Scenic Studios, will feature costumes designed by Season 12 "Project Runway" finalist Bradon McDonald, and projected images and video designed by Greg Emetaz. Crystal Manich will direct the production, and Stephen Lord will conduct the Utah Symphony. Due to renovations of the historic Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre, Utah Opera's performances of "Norma" will take place in Abravanel Hall." The McCammon Voice Competition in collaboration with Fort Worth Opera is pleased to present Angela Meade in recital on Monday, May 6 at 7:00 pm at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Auditorium. This intimate concert marks the eagerly-anticipated return of this world-renowned soprano to Fort Worth after winning first prize in the 2005 McCammon Voice Competition. Ms. Meade will be accompanied on piano by Fort Worth Opera Artistic Director and Conductor, Joe Illick. The evening's diverse program will consist of celebrated arias and art songs by Bellini, Meyerbeer, Korngold, and Strauss.
