American Repertory Theater at Harvard University announced today the creative team and cast for Macbeth In Stride. Created by Obie Award winner Whitney White and directed by Tyler Dobrowsky and Taibi Magar, Macbeth In Stride begins performances at the Loeb Drama Center on Saturday, October 23 and officially opens on Thursday, October 29, 2021. 

Acclaimed Black Filipinx playwright and Kilroys List honoree Roger Q. Mason (they/them) is currently premiering their play The Duat with the renowned Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, presented in association with the Obie Award-winning The Fire This Time Festival and Watts Village Theater Company.

1776 will now play May - July 2022 in the Loeb Drama Center before it plays at Roundabout Theatre Company in fall 2022 and begins a national tour in February 2023.  WILD in Concert is a new musical starring Idina Menzel, which was created by Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright V (formerly Eve Ensler).

The Public Theater begins performances for the 17th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL, on Wednesday, January 6. This popular and highly anticipated festival of The Public’s winter season includes artists from across the U.S. and around the world, including Chile, Iran, and the U.K.

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) announced last week that it has awarded a grant of $67,818 to Trinity Repertory Company. Trinity Rep will partner with director and community facilitator Laurie Woolery to enhance Trinity Rep's bilingual Spanish-English programming and develop theater work based on oral histories of the Latinx people of Rhode Island with director Mark Valdez. Trinity Rep was one of fourteen organizations selected for an award as a part of the foundation's Building Demand for the Arts program.

Trinity Rep will continue its 2019-20 Season with a timeless classic retold, A Tale of Two Cities. Directed by Tyler Dobrowsky, who last brought audiences Little Shop of Horrors, this is a beautifully vibrant production that is at once sweepingly epic and profoundly personal. Based on the novel by Charles Dickens and adapted by resident acting company member Brian McEleney, the story famously depicts the best of times and worst of times. When it comes to United States history, it can be easy to gloss over the period between the early 1800s to the cusp of the Civil War. The generation who lived during this forgotten era, however, faced no less tumultuous times than we do in modern times. Aaron Posner's play, JQA, specifically looks at this time period through the eyes of John Quincy Adams, who, as the son of founding father John Adams, and later a statesman in his own right, was uniquely poised to survey the era's ups and downs. Through the use of fictionalized encounters with some of America's most dynamic figures, the political and personal issues raised in JQA are as relevant now as they've ever been.
