The Blacksmiths, a new national coalition of artists, curators, producers, and organizers that forges culture for Black liberation, are kicking off a summer series of events and activities in New York City this Juneteenth Weekend, June 19 & 20, 2020.

The second installment of Up Close, The Shed's new digital commissioning program, features Reggie 'Regg Roc' Gray and the D.R.E.A.M. Ring in Revelation of Proverbs, a dynamic street dance performance within the confines of home. Revelation of Proverbs premieres on Sunday, May 3 at 6 pm EDT on The Shed's social media platforms (@theshedny) and its website at theshed.org.

Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) is launching online programming to continue providing the community of makers and lovers of musical theatre with spaces to gather, create, and inspire. Musical Theatre Factory announces complete casting for The Fari Chronicles: A Metropolis Story, showcasing work from the new afrofuturist musical, Metropolis, in concert on Sunday February 2, 2020, at 9:30pm. Created by AriDy Nox and Brandon Webster this will be a riveting evening featuring songs and scenes from the genre-bending score and time-twisting book of this brand new dystopian musical - It is the night before the Apocalypse and Fari, an Android-Unit turned space-time-continuum anarchist is at the center of the devastation. The Fari Chronicles is a concert rendition of the First Act of the afrofuturist musical Metropolis.

Alex Poots, Artistic Director and CEO of The Shed, today announced its 2020 Season of new productions by progressive artists from across the performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture, including live performances, solo exhibitions, and the final group of The Shed's inaugural Open Call series for emerging New York City-based artists. Poots also announced the appointment of Madani Younis, who joins The Shed in January as Chief Executive Producer. To celebrate the opening season as it draws to a close, The Shed will host its first open house, Meet at The Shed, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, featuring special pop-up events and free admission to its current exhibitions.

Poetic Theater Productions and Musical Theatre Factory are creating a one-night-only concert happening, Feeling Good: Pleasure as Ritual Resistance on August 21st at 8:00pm at Judson Memorial Church. Creating a portal through adrienne maree brown's NY Times bestselling book Pleasure Activism, this night is a gathering with artist-activists across performance disciplines who center pleasure in their work of social transformation. Feeling Good is a free event, open to all. Ticket reservations are available through Eventbrite.
