The Public Theater, the Barnard Center for Research on Women and the Ntozake Shange Literary Trust have announced the establishment of The Ntozake Shange Social Justice Theater Residency. This rotating two-year playwriting residency is named in honor of Public Theater artist and Barnard alumna (Class of 1970) Ntozake Shange.

Directed by Obie Award winner Leah C. Gardiner with choreography by Camille A. Brown, FOR COLORED GIRLS begins performances on Tuesday, October 8 in The Public's Martinson Hall, with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Thursday, October 10 and an official press opening on Tuesday, October 22. This powerful revival has been extended one week and will now run through Sunday, November 24.

The Red Bull Theater presents an 'In the Raw' workshop of THE AENEID, by Oliver Kemeid, a powerful new play inspired by Virgil that transports Aeneas's search for a homeland into the modern world of middle-eastern revolution. THE AENEID will play at the St. Clements Theater for three performances on Feb. 11 and 12.

The medieval mystery play will get a 21st century update on December 4th when the Christmas story is brought to life on the streets of New York City through a raucous mix of music, dance, song, and drink.
