Woodie King, Jr. To Retire June 30 As Head Of New Federal Theatre

Woodie King, Jr., Founder and Producing Director of New Federal Theatre (NFT), will retire from leadership of the famed theater company on June 30, 2021, handing the baton to NFT's newly appointed Artistic Director, Elizabeth Van Dyke.

15th National Black Writers Conference Goes Virtual

The Center for Black Literature is holding the 15th National Black Writers Conference, November 11 - 14, 2020. The conference is dedicated to screenwriters and playwrights.

FOR COLORED GIRLS... Extends Through November 24 At The Public Theater

The Public Theater announced an extension today for the major New York revival of FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF, written by legendary playwright/poet Ntozake Shange. Directed by Obie Award winner Leah C. Gardiner with choreography by Camille A. Brown, FOR COLORED GIRLS begins performances on Tuesday, October 8 in The Public's Martinson Hall, with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Thursday, October 10 and an official press opening on Tuesday, October 22. This powerful revival has been extended one week and will now run through Sunday, November 24.

Red Bull Theater Presents Workshop of THE AENEID, 2/11-2/12

The Red Bull Theater presents an 'In the Raw' workshop of THE AENEID, by Oliver Kemeid, a powerful new play inspired by Virgil that transports Aeneas's search for a homeland into the modern world of middle-eastern revolution. THE AENEID will play at the St. Clements Theater for three performances on Feb. 11 and 12.
