Circle Theatre continues their 67th Main Stage season with a production of Superior Donuts opening on Thursday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Aquinas College. Superior Donuts is brought to the Circle stage by Production Sponsor Steelcase and is rated R for strong language and adult situations.

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) announces programming for its 13th season in 2019-2020, continuing its mission of bringing affordable, world-class performances of traditional and contemporary chamber music to all five boroughs of New York City. The upcoming slate of concerts feature the Longleash Trio, Founders, Ars Longa de la Habana, Parthenia, LeStrange Viols, and Alkemie with Elliot Cole, as well as partnerships with Music on Madison, Gotham Early Music/Americas Society (GEMAS) and the Baryshnikov Arts Center.

The sketch and improv comedy group Gaggle Reflex is returning to Ocoee's Dragonfly Studio 129 on Saturday, August 10 at 8:00 p.m. The show, called GAGGLE REFLEX presents SPILL THE TEA: WISH YOU WERE HERE!, will feature guest actor Matt Tremmel joining in on a mixture of scripted sketches and improvised scenes and songs exploring the predictable unpredictability of vacations. Whether it involves traveling to faraway locales or staycations to get away from a daily routine, or traveling with friends and family or solo trips to meet new tribes, Gaggle Reflex will examine all aspects of vacations.

On this episode of BroadwayRadio's 'Tell Me More,' Matt Tamanini talks to scholar and author Mark Larson whose book 'Ensemble: An Oral History of Chicago Theater' is available now. In this 650 page tome, Larson chronicles the rise of the Second City's theatre community starting with Second City and the Compass Players in the 1950s and 60s, and via over 300 interviews tells the story to Chicago's gritty climb to theatrical prominence.

On July 26, 2019, Santa Fe Opera presented R. B. Schlather's rambunctious production of W. A. Mozart's dramma giocoso Così fan tutte. His first act started with Don Alfonso as a cowboy and the two couples, Fiordiligi with Gugliemo and Dorabella with  Ferrando dressed in tennis whites. Amanda Majeski, who has sung several leading roles at Santa Fe,  showed herself to be a capable Fiordiligi whose top notes bloomed with silver magic as she romped around the stage. For a?oeCome Scoglioa?? (a?oeLike a rocka??), she was comedically impassive and for a?oePer pietàa?? (a?oeFor pitya??) she truly begged for forgiveness as she used every note in her wide range to encompass the  scope of Mozart's writing.  whose top notes bloomed with silver magic as she romped around the stage.

 Family entertainment network BYUtv announced today at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour that it has renewed its fan-favorite sketch comedy show 'Studio C' for season 11, to debut in 2020. The 10th season, starring an eclectic new cast of comedians, will premiere on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019 at 8 p.m. ET/6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT. A viral phenom with nearly two billion views on YouTube and past guest stars including Emmy winner Kenan Thompson, 'Studio C' derives universally-loved humor from everyday life through endlessly watchable and shareable sketches that offer comic perspective on commonplace scenarios and pop culture commentary.

Shiv Mehra isn't one for basking in the spoils of downtime and open schedules — that's why he created Heaven's Club. The Deafheaven guitarist is inching into territory with this project, a hopscotching fusion of contemporary/kraut rock, jazzy percussion, reverb-drenched riffage, and overdub cloaked vocals.

According to the New York Post, Faye Dunaway, who just wrapped up her run in the Broadway-bound play Tea at Five, has been fired from the production. 

TBS has tapped writer, director and producer Keenen Ivory Wayans to serve as showrunner on season three of The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish. Co-created and executive-produced by Academy Award-winner Jordan Peele, The Last O.G. launched as cable's #1 comedy in 2018 and continues to be a ratings success with season two reaching a multiplatform audience of 32.5 million viewers thus far. Wayans, a New York native, will also direct four episodes in the newest season of the Brooklyn-centric comedy series.

Richard Kline (a?oeThree's Companya??) will join the Broadway cast as Joe tonight, July 24th through Sunday, August 18th. Kline replaces Larry Marshall, who will join the National Tour of Waitress and return to the Broadway cast on Tuesday, August 20th.

On the heels of the success of National Geographic Documentary Films' JANE — the most celebrated film of 2017, which received a BAFTA nomination and was named best documentary of 2017 by 18 national critics groups, the Producers Guild of America, American Cinema Editors, the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the National Board of Review — the network announced today that it is taking a fresh, new look at Jane Goodall's incredible conservation work in the upcoming television special JANE GOODALL: THE HOPE.

Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich were two of the greatest names in international show business during much of the 20th century. At a time when popular culture was still defined by a small handful of artists, these were two of the biggest. Piaf enchanted the world with her singing, her moving life story, and unostentatious appearance; while Dietrich's beauty, elegance, and bewitching stare helped to define the meaning of a Hollywood star. They were both divas without compromise, whose lives were as theatrical as their performances. Yet, these two women, who couldn't be more dissimilar and approached life and art in very different ways, became fast friends and eventually lovers.

The José Iturbi Foundation proudly sponsored 'A Decade of Dudamel' with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. To celebrate his ten years in L.A., Gustavo Dudamel conducted a special anniversary concert complete with fireworks and featured members of YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) and Russian piano virtuoso, Khatia Buniatishvili. The evening's performance includes music from well-known films of Hollywood's golden age.

It's a time of change for the women of The Bachelor Girls-and that means swing dancing, ditching their corsets, and learning to be an independent woman in 1920s London. The Bachelor Girls was a part of the fourth annual She NYC Arts Festival, which strives to provide women writers, composers, and directors with resources to jump-start their careers in the theater industry. At the beginning of the show, we are introduced to Cecily, Gertie, and Molly, three best friends about to set off on their own. In the typical 'I am' song fashion, the three girls confide in the audience their hopes and dreams-getting married, becoming a typist, and dancing, respectfully. However, as the show progresses, the women face trials that school did not prepare them for, but fear not: they had 'The Bachelor Girl's Guide to Everything,' which guides them through the rest of the story. The characters followed typical tropes, and the story was predictable, yet charming. The girls' lives are told through catchy songs, excellent choreography, and endearing relationships.
