The Golden Theatre was the place to be last night as Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning Topdog/Underdog officially opened on Broadway. Directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon, it stars Emmy Award-winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Candyman) and Tony Award-nominee Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, The Tragedy of Macbeth). CBS announced today that it has renewed the hit drama THE EQUALIZER, starring Queen Latifah, for two additional years, beginning with the 2022-2023 broadcast season. THE EQUALIZER is Sunday’s #1 scripted series. The series originally premiered Feb. 7, 2021, following the Super Bowl.

Notables from President Bill Clinton and Whoopi Goldberg to musicians Wynton Marsalis and Sting joined together on Sunday, Jan 24th to “Save Birdland”.  During the fundraising concert the Broadway community was treated to “All That Jazz” starring the original Velmas of Chicago, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth.

 CW Seed, The CW's free, ad-supported digital network, has acquired the second window, non-exclusive streaming rights to 14 series from BBC Studios. The pact will bring more than 200 episodes and 150 hours of scripted library content to the platform. The announcement was made today by Rick Haskins, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Digital Platforms, The CW.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Kenny Leon, Artistic Director of True Colors Theatre Company, will host a group of celebrity guests from the entertainment, sports, and media worlds for a two-day event of entertainment and golf to raise funds for the theatre company's education programs including the National August Wilson Monologue Competition for high school students.

USA Network today announced a Season 3 pickup of the critically acclaimed science fiction drama COLONY. From Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions, COLONY currently airs Thursdays at 10/9c, and will culminate on April 6 in the highly-anticipated season finale.
