The popular jazz guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli opened up an eight-set stint at Birdland Jazz on July 30th. This second set was a swinger, with Pizzarelli in excellent form.

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater will operate this August with a full slate of nightly performances.

This year, Anita Brown Jazz Orchestra is celebrating 20 years since the release of its debut CD, 27 EAST. Recorded at the now defunct Clinton Studios by acclaimed recording engineer James Farber, produced by Anita herself and assisted by Jim McNeely, this Digital-Analog-Digital recording of seven of Brown’s originals deserves a joyous 20-year Commemorative in 2023.

54 Below will welcome back Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown after a sold-out August performance. The creator of 13, The Bridges of Madison County, and more returns on September 11 at 7pm.

Even though they are not related, there must be a common music DNA molecule that exists in George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and Billy Joel, that was also passed on to Jason Robert Brown. His performance last night at Feinstein’s/54 Below encompassed some of the creative talents of all of those musical giants. Jason Robert Brown, the composer, the arranger,  the lyricist, the pianist, and the singer, was on the stage of Feinstein’s/54 Below with nine (yes, nine) great musicians, plus vocalists Anastasia Talley and Cheeyang Ng.
