Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) will host a Newsies Fan Day at the Millburn theater on Sunday, October 2nd. Newsies Fan Day is an opportunity for Newsies fans nationwide to celebrate this cult phenomenon. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a Newsies Fan Reception at 5pm in the Renee Foosaner Art Gallery on the campus of Paper Mill Playhouse. At 6:00pm, there will be a Newsies Cast Talk-Back where both the stage cast and members of the film cast will discuss Newsies. The Newsies Fan Package costs $25 and includes: the Newsies Fan Reception, Newsies Cast Talk-Back and a Newsies gift. To participate in Newsies Fan Day, you must hold a ticket to the Newsies fan performance at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 2nd, sold separately. Radio Disney will be on campus to join in the festivities.

Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey. Among the early nominees and winners are Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway, Tony® award winner Laura Benanti, and 2011 Tony® nominee, Nikki M. James. Paper Mill Playhouse hosted the 16th Annual Rising Star Awards- Presented by the Investors Savings Bank Foundation on Tuesday, June 7th at the Millburn Theater. Schools nominated for Outstanding Overall Musical and Leading Actor/Actress nominees performed at the event and award recipients were presented with a crystal award from Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards partner, Tiffany & Co. Westfield High School came out on top, winning nine Rising Star Awards (including Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical) and two scholarships.

In September, Paper Mill Playhouse opens their season with the premiere of the new Disney stage musical, Newsies (September 15, 2011 - October 16, 2011), adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. In November, celebrate the holiday season with the New Jersey premiere of White Christmas (November 16, 2011 - December 18, 2011). Brightening the winter in January is the hit comedy Boeing-Boeing (January 18, 2012 - February 12, 2012). Then enjoy the legendary musical comedy Damn Yankees (March 7, 2012 - April 1, 2012) just in time for spring training. To close the 2011-2012 season comes a musical tale of romance, tragedy, redemption and rebirth in Once on This Island (May 30, 2012 - June 24, 2012). The benefit honored eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken with the theater's prestigious Frank Carrington Excellence in the Arts Award. There to add to the entertainment of the evening and help honor the music man was Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Laura Benanti. Curtains will run at the Millburn theater from April 27 through May 22, 2011. Family Week is April 27 through May 1 and during this period, children 18 and under receive half off the regular ticket price (certain restrictions apply). In Additio to previously announced cast members, the show will also feature Daniel Marcus in the role of Sidney Bernstein.
