Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, this year's Hong Kong Week 2021@Guangzhou has combined in-venue and online formats to present a wide range of artistic and cultural programmes.

Loopit focuses on the unfinished, repetitive and topsy-turvy nature of the human condition. We loop same themes, challenges and mistakes from century to century as we try to free ourselves from – often self-inflicted – frames. The absurd atmosphere of Saarinen’s choreography is inspired by the music of punk cabaret band The Tiger Lillies and texts from William Shakeaspeare‘s plays.

Tamil-Canadian rapper Shan Vincent de Paul teams up with award-winning composer and producer Santhosh Narayanan in their epic new hit 'Neeye Oli'. One of two singles to be featured in the upcoming dramatic sports film 'Sarpatta', 'Neeye Oli' is an anthem about perseverance while encouraging listeners to embrace their inner greatness.

This adaptation of SNOW WHITE is a fresh look at the timeless classic that features a beautiful princess, her evil queen, a huntsman, one magic mirror, and the legendary seven dwarfs – all brought to life by TWO ACTORS! Pulitzer winners Paula Vogel, Katori Hall, Annie Baker & Sam Shepard are just 4 of the many celebrated playwrights whose work was developed in the Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF). Established in 1976 and currently led by Playwrights Foundation’s Executive Artistic Director Jessica Bird Beza, this year’s BAPF runs July 16-25, featuring 5 very different new works. Casts include acclaimed actors such as Emily Kuroda. BroadwayWorld recently caught up with Beza to talk about the festival.

Goodwill Cultural Ambassador Ronald Rand, during his 20th year touring around the world to 25 countries will perform at the Theatre of Changes' 17th International Festival of Making Theater in his celebrated solo play, LET IT BE ART! as Harold Clurman, 'the Elder Statesman of the American Theatre,' on August 2nd at Theatre of Change, 19a Tritus Septemuriou Street in Athens, Greece.

The casts for BAPF’s live streamed readings spotlight acclaimed actors including TV/film actor and theatre mainstay Emily Kuroda, known for her role as Mrs. Kim in “Gilmore Girls,” as well as Bay Area theatre veterans Halili Knox, Tasi Alabastro, Keiko Shimosato Carreiro and Michael Ray Wisely, plus many others.

While Egge has long written insightfully about relationships, the stressful, ominous feelings caused by the pandemic and social unrest led her to take a “let’s get to the truth — let’s do that right now” attitude with her songwriting.

BMI introduced three new awards, including the BMI Streaming Documentary Award, BMI Film Festival Award and BMI Streaming Film Award, recognizing the importance of these mediums and the composers whose musical works have contributed to these categories.

10 to 4 Productions has announced new dates for the world premiere of Indecent Proposal; the new musical will now run at Southwark Playhouse from 22nd October – 27th November 2021.
