This Week the California Arts Council announced a grant award of $14,400 to TheatreWorks Silicon Valley as part of its Arts Education Exposure program.

Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has announced the all-new musical Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School for the Theatre for Young Audiences Collection (TYA) is now available for licensing. TYA musicals are family-friendly shows with abbreviated running times written for a small cast of adults to perform for children.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of The Luckiest, by Melissa Ross, directed by former Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Jaime Castañeda, running June 30 - July 28 (press opening: Sunday, July 8 at 7:00pm). in the Playhouse's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce THE PROMPTER, the first production of the 2019 Mainstage Season, had a successful opening night on June 1. The show runs through June 16. This World Premiere stars Tovah Feldshuh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Walking Dead, Golda's Balcony) and Wade Dooley (Jersey Boys), who is also the playwright. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents the Northern California premiere of Archduke. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, Archduke explores how one man, one moment, can derail an entire century. Focusing on the cataclysmic 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, three hapless insurgents embark on a darkly comic quest for immortality and purpose, unaware that their actions will launch World War I.

California Shakespeare Theater continues its 2019 summer season with The Good Person of Szechwan by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Wendy Arons and adapted by Tony Kushner, playing July 3 through July 21, 2019 at the Bruns Amphitheater. The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theatre Company, kicks off their 29th season with the World Premiere of Gordon Dahlquist's [Veil Widow Conspiracy]. Aneesha Kudtarkar directs a cast that will include Edward Chin-Lyn, Kimiye Corwin, Bruce McKenzie, David Shih, James Seol, Karoline Xu, and Aaron Yoo. This Off-Broadway limited engagement at Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop (79 East 4th Street) will begin performances Saturday June 8th with Opening Night set for June 15th (7pm).  Performances continue through July 6th only.

The full creative team has been announced for THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, the new stage musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and a book by Philip LaZebnik (Mulan, Pocahontas) and based on the celebrated DreamWorks Animation film.

Joel de la Fuente (Amazon's 'The Man in the High Castle,' 'Hemlock Grove') is reprising his Drama Desk nominated role as Gordon Hirabayashi and 30 other characters in Jeanne Sakata's powerful and timely award-winning play Hold These Truths for a limited run on the St Germain Stage at The Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield, MA through June 8.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley announces a stellar cast of acclaimed Broadway and TV stars for The Language Archive, launching the Tony Award-winning theatre company's celebratory 50th Anniversary season. Written by Julia Cho, whose Aubergine captured rapturous praise and multiple awards, The Language Archive is balanced delightfully between affection and adversity. The quirky comedy tells the whimsical, life-affirming chronicle of a linguist fighting to preserve the dying languages of far-flung cultures, only to neglect the promise and passion of his own.

Red Caravan presents a new take on William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, adapted & directed by Andrew Willis-Woodward with original music by Rona Siddiqui.

On July 12th, TheatreWorks New Milford will premiere Christopher Durang's Award-Winning Comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.

As the 2019 Summer Shakespeare Festival kicks off, The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team with As You Like It, the Bard's fabulously charming romantic comedy, whose heroine is one of his most remarkable creations. Director Jessica Stone's recent body of work-including Barefoot in the Park, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and Arms and the Man-has had Globe audiences rolling in the aisles. Her Shakespearean directing debut will run June 16 - July 21, 2019 outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run June 16-21 with opening night on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.

Following a rigorous selection process, Theater J will participate in a significant nation-wide program, the Single Ticket Theater Collective, launched by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theater, and TRG Arts, an industry pioneer and leader in data-driven consulting for arts and cultural professionals. During the five-month initiative, Theater J and nine other theaters from across the country will collaborate on single ticket campaign plans, classroom-style shared learning, and one-on-one consulting with the goal of maximizing single ticket revenue and deepening patron loyalty.

'It's Showtime' for a blockbuster lineup of performances during the 2019-2020 season at Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater. The season schedule includes comedy of all kinds, stunning acrobatic feats, a cappella sensations, new twists on musical classics, festive family shows, soaring gospel tributes, groundbreaking films, and international dance and folklore. Tickets go on sale June 6 to Majestic Theater members and June 7 to the general public.
