TCG Announces 2009 Conference ROOTS. RENAISSANCE. REVOLUTION

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional, not-for-profit theatre announces its 2009 conference: Roots. Renaissance. Revolution. From June 4-6, 2009, the theatre community will come together in Baltimore to investigate how generational perspectives affect the entire field, including the choice of plays produced, the atmosphere created in workplaces, the appeal of various leadership styles, and the processes used to identify, attract and retain audiences.

Midtown International Theatre Festival Announces 43 Selections for 10th Anniversary Season

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) announces selections for the 2009 Season, running from July 13 - August 2, 2009. 43 plays and musicals have been chosen, as well as four readings. Selected plays for SHORT SUBJECTS, a new division for plays that run under 60 minutes, will be announced at a later date. Tickets go on sale on May 8 online at www.midtownfestival.org or by phone at 866-811-4111.

Planet Connections Theater Festivity Announces Show Lineup With 35 Premieres

Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, a new eco-friendly festival designed to promote social and cultural awareness in the theatrical community, launches with 35 premieres in June 2009. Co-Executive Directors, Glory Bowen and Frank Calo, are excited by the prospects of premiering new shows which foster social change, benefiting at least 26 various not-for-profit organizations, while connecting artists with new audiences in a fun theatrical environment.

Aurora Theater Hosts Book Signing W/ 3 Local Authors 3/31

On March 31 at 7:00pm, Aurora Theatre will host a book signing by three authors who have written three very different books. All are exceptional writers and most importantly, all the authors are local. The event was originally conceived by one of Gwinnett's most prominent citizens and one of the authors. Elliott Brack has put together the comprehensive resource on local history called Gwinnett A Little Above Atlanta. The other homegrown talents are Tom Stratton who's Sea Birds, When Sea Birds Fly To Land is a beautifully crafted story set in the Virgin Islands, and David Leon Brown is a modern-day Nostradamus.

Aurora Theatre has the distinct honor of being chosen for the American premiere of Duets, the new romantic comedy by Peter Quilter. Mr. Quilter is author of the 2006 Aurora Theatre hit Glorious!, the heartwarming comedy based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the worst singer in the world. Representing the baby boomer generation, Duets is five vignettes performed by two actors that explores the lighter side of romance and relationships. Theatrically brilliant, Duets is created for the audience to witness the magic of theatre as actors perform costume changes onstage as the scenery shifts to the next story ? all written as part of the performance.

'Roll With The Punches' At Rising Action

This New York International Fringe Festival hit was written by Garet Scott and directed by Kevin Thomsen (MTV's Spy Groove, HBO's Quality of Mercy). It stars David R. Gordon (Making Porn) as John, and Mark Finley as Susan/Sharon leading the New York cast. Original score by Emmy-Award-winning composer John Bauers.

Way Off Broadway Musical Theatre Inc. (WOB) presents the World Premiere of In Full: Bloom, an evening of songs celebrating composer and lyricist Charles Bloom, one of musical theatre's most significant new voices, at The Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, Iowa, from January 15 - 25, 2009.

The Tony Award Winning Terrence McNally has written The Ritz, Love, Valour, Compassion, Frankie and Johnnie in the Clare Delune, Master Class, Bad Habits, the controversial Corpus Christi and the books to the musicals Kiss of the Spiderwoman, The Rink, The Full Monty and Ragtime. He also won an Emmy for the teleplay of Andre's Mother.
