McCarter Theatre Center has announced an autism-friendly performance of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods tonight, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. Following in the footsteps of successful autism-friendly performances of The Lion King and Mary Poppins on Broadway, this special performance will enable individuals with autism and their families and caregivers the opportunity to experience live musical theater in a supportive and judgment-free environment.

The 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed on Sunday night to recipients in 14 categories and 4 special honors were bestowed. The Off-Broadway League today gave out awards in 14 categories and two additional special awards for the 2013 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Ensemble Studio Theatre will honor two of Broadway's most distinguished producers, Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel, at its 45th Anniversary Gala, Monday evening, May 20, at 6:30pm at SIR Stage 37, 508 West 37th Street. Tickets are $500 and $1,000.

In honor of World Theatre Day (today, March 27th) an Around the Globe Chain Play will be presented at the Lark Play Development Center. Starting and ending in NYC, a play will be written as it travels around the world making 16 stops with playwrights from across the globe.

The Broadway League has awarded coveted New York Education Grants to the Broadway productions of Annie by Martin Charnin, Charles Strouse and Thomas Meehan, and Kinky Boots by Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper. Each production receives a $5,000 grant towards its 2013 educational initiatives. The grants aid the growth and development of theatre education in the city as they encourage Broadway productions to create more opportunities for young people and to exchange ideas about education.

Three-time Tony Award winning costume and scenic designer DESMOND HEELEY, and costume designer DAVID TOSER are among the 2013 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 3, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Heeley will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design and Mr. Toser was selected to receive the 2013 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design.

Geva Theatre Center's Artistic Director Mark Cuddy and Executive Director Tom Parrish are proud to announce the much anticipated 2013-2014 season, the organization's 41st season of producing professional theatre of a national standard for audiences in the Greater Rochester region. The 2013-2014 Wilson Mainstage Season features a high octane, all-American musical; a hilarious homage to a Hitchcock classic film; a new play by the author of Almost, Maine; an Olivier, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play about race and real estate; the world premiere of a play ripped from the headlines; and the finale - a beloved and timeless comedy from an American Master. Geva's magical production of A Christmas Carol has become Rochester's holiday tradition and will return for 2013.

The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, has announced that the 2013 Honorary Award applications are now available online at www.nyitawards.com. The applications for the 2013 Honorary Awards are available online and are due by 6pm on May 1, 2013.

At last night's Theatre Development Fund Gala, they celebrated the 40th Anniversary of TDF's TKTS Booth in Times Square - which first opened on June 25, 1973, and honoring The Shubert Organization's Chairman and Co-CEO, PHILIP J. SMITH who was involved with the founding of TKTS.

Philip J. Smith, the Chairman and Co-Chief Executive of the Shubert Organization will be honored at Theatre Development Fund's gala today, March 4 which celebrates the 40th Anniversary of TKTS in Times Square. (TKTS Times Square will turn 40 on June 25, 2013). The gala will be held at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street, NYC).
