It’s no secret that Broadway has not rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. The Thanksgiving week box office gross was $37,475,773, compared to $41,687,333 for Thanksgiving week 2019. (While fewer shows were playing, capacity was also down, as was average ticket price.) The list of reasons for this is long: tourism is not fully back, we have a strong dollar, Covid is still keeping many traditional theatergoers away, at-home entertainment is booming, crime is constantly in the news, etcetera.

The Drama Desk award-winning TADA! Youth Theater has announced its 2023 season which includes two original musicals Princess Phooey in February 2023 and Everything About Camp (Almost) in July 2023. Performances are one-hour long, affordable, fun-filled musicals that are perfect for family audiences of ages 3 and above.

The Southbank Centre has announced its Spring 2023 Literature Season taking place from the new year until the end of May. On Saturday, December 3, 2022, I had the pleasure of seeing EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD, which is easily the funniest stage comedy I have seen in the last three years!  It is yet another first-rate Christmas comedy production performed by the Castle Craig Players at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse in Meriden, CT.  EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD is a hilarious satirical farce written by Michael Carleton, James Fitzgerald, and John K. Alvarez.  It is brilliantly directed by Bobby and Carleigh Schultz.  It stars the highly talented trio of Chris Brooks, Rick Bennett, and Bobby Schultz.

The Gracie Theatre celebrates the music of the holiday season on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 3 p.m. with the band, Cellophane Flowers. The afternoon concert, 'Christmas Chronicles,' is a fusion of Beatles hits and holiday favorites. This performance is made possible through the generous support of the John Kilgore Fund.
