Continuing its tradition of performing in true rotating repertory, Asolo Repertory Theatre will kick off its 2022 rep season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama OUR TOWN. Thornton Wilder’s magnificent play is, at its heart, about us, and perhaps no other play rings truer today.

The Axelrod PAC in New Jersey has set two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin (Hello, Dolly!, Finian’s Rainbow) and film and TV star Aaron Lazar (Fox’s Filthy Rich and the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music) as the leads for their production of The Bridges of Madison County, directed by one of its original stars Hunter Foster.

The cancellations. The story in the industry of the last week or so has been reminiscent of March 2020, though as many observers and epidemiologists have reminded theatre fans - it isn’t as bad as that. The cancelled performances are a sign that testing programs are working.

The Broadway cast of Girl From The North Country recently celebrated their 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album and the holiday season with 1067LiteFM's Christine Nagy. The cast got together to spread some holiday cheer with an outdoor performance of 'Winter Wonderland.'

Producer Jeffrey Seller and Zions Bank Broadway at the Eccles announced a digital drawing for HAMILTON tickets will begin in conjunction with the show’s first performance December 28 in Salt Lake City at the Eccles Theater. 

Classic Stage Company has added a performance to its sold-out production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s Assassins to benefit The Actors Fund, on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 2pm ET. Tickets, priced at $125 each, will become available to In the Spotlight members of The Actors Fund on Tuesday, December 21, at 12pm ET.

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust today announced the names of the 10 outstanding early-to-mid-career playwrights who will be celebrated with 2021 Steinberg Playwright Awards in the amount of $10,000 each. 

Hero Theatre announces Emmy award-nominated composer Brian Quijada as the newest commission for Nuestro Planeta, a ten-year multimedia new works initiative that focuses on educating Latiné film and theater audiences about environmental justice within the Americas. Quijada will create an original piece with music about the effects of the climate crisis, specifically in Central America.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the tenth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a four-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written by emerging artists. The Reading Series will feature new works by Liz Appel, Noah Diaz, Daria Miyeko Marinelli and York Walker. The Roundabout Underground Reading Series is January 18 - 21, 2022 at 5:00PM at the Five Angels Theater (789 Tenth Avenue).

Today's episode features Caissie Levy, who is currently starring on Broadway in Caroline, or Change. '[This show] has been wonderful to be a part of. I was finishing my run as Elsa when they announced that they were bringing Sharon [D Clarke] over with Caroline, or Change. I was aware that she had done this production in the UK and I had seen a clip from their rehearsal process... but I wasn't a Caroline, or Change know-it-all,' explained Caissie.

NYC-based theatre collective SOCIETY will premiere the company's first two shows, Beginning Days of True Jubilation by Mona Mansour and The Strangers Came Today by Emily Zemba, in June 2022 at New Ohio Theater. The company will perform them in repertory.
