Beginning performances on Tuesday, September 24th, ALLI MAUZEY will return to the role of Glinda in the Broadway production of WICKED. Ms. Mauzey previously played the role on Broadway and on National Tour.
The Pasadena Playhouse and Lythgoe Family Productions (LFP), announced today the principal casting for ALADDIN AND HIS WINTER WISH, starring Ben Vereen (Broadway's Pippin and Jesus Christ Superstar) as “The Genie,” Jordan Fisher as “Aladdin” (Disney's Teen Beach Movie), Ashley Argota as “The Princess” (Nickelodeon's True Jackson VP) and Richard Karn (“Home Improvement”) as “The Sultan.”
Artists Rep announces Michael Mendelson will step in to play the lead role of Felix Artifex, as Todd Van Voris must leave the production due to a family emergency. Artistic Director Dámaso Rodriguez will now direct Mendelson and guide the show to opening as the production's Associate Director. Originally slated to begin preview performances next Tuesday, September 17, the run dates for Mistakes Were Made will now be pushed back one week. Preview performances will begin September 24 and the play will open on September 28.
The Pasadena Playhouse presents Val Kilmer in CITIZEN TWAIN for a five-show limited engagement. Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. Kilmer continues to develop CITIZEN TWAIN, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, with this five performance extension at The Playhouse, August 21 - 24, 2013. Producer Jonathan Burrows has announced that Megan Hilty and Aaron Lazar will star in a staged reading of his Broadway-bound revival of the Cole Porter musical Can-Can. Hilty will star as Pistache and Lazar as Aristide in the by-invitation-only presentation on July 15, 16 and 17 in New York City.
The Pasadena Playhouse announced that the theatre would host the THIRD ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE FESTIVAL today, April 27, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The event will feature fifteen local high schools, each performing a theatrical piece of their selection. Admission to the Festival is $5.00 and all proceeds will go towards funding next year's High School Theatre Festival. This special, non-competitive, event was created so that all friends, family and supporters of the surrounding communities and the local schools may enjoy the talent of the participating students. This year's event will also feature surprise celebrity guest appearances.
