NNPN Welcomes Silk Road Rising, Company One, And City Theatre Company To The Core Membership

National New Play Network (NNPN), the country's alliance of professional theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, has added three new Core Members: Silk Road Rising (Chicago), Company One (Boston), and City Theatre Company (Pittsburgh). As of the date of this release, NNPN has 114 Members Theaters, comprised of 32 Cores and 82 Associates.

Tony Winner Barbara Harris Passes Away at 83

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that stage and screen star Barbara Harris has passed away after a battle with lung cancer, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. She was 83 years old.

BWW Interview: Margaret Colin Gets Ready to Close Up Mrs. Mullin's Carousel

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this month, the acclaimed revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical Carousel, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien and choreographed by 2018 Tony Award winner Justin Peck, will play its final Broadway performance at the Imperial Theatre on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Preview performances began on Wednesday, February 28 and Carousel officially opened on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Premiere Stages To Present Full Production Of NJPAC Stage Exchange Commission BRICK CITY

Premiere Stages at Kean University will present Nicole Pandolfo's Brick City September 6-23 in Kean University's Bauer Boucher Theatre Center (Vaughn Eames Hall, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.). Originally commissioned over a two-year cycle through the NJPAC Stage Exchange and now receiving its first professional production, Brick City will feature actors Rafael Benoit, Jacqueline Correa, Madison Ferris and Chris Grant. Jessi D. Hill, who helmed this season's workshop of Deneen Reynold-Knott's Baton, directs.

Booker Garrett, Sayra Player, and More Cast in THE HURRICANE PARTY

THE COLLECTIVE NY announces complete casting for the world premiere production of David Thigpen's THE HURRICANE PARTY, directed by Tony Award Nominee Maria Dizzia (In the Next Room). Previews begin on Wednesday, August 29 at the Studio Stage at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Opening night is set for Tuesday, September 11, with a limited engagement through Sunday, October 7, 2018.

Queens Theatre Offers Training For Early-Career Actors With Disabilities

Queens Theatre is excited to announce its new training program specifically for early-career Deaf and disabled actors with its Theatre For All Initiative. The two-week, free program runs Sept. 16 to Sept. 28, and will include workshops on Acting for the Camera, Acting for the Stage, Movement, Voice, Improv, Auditioning, and Commercials. The program will culminate with a showcase performance for an invited industry audience.

Broadway Artists Connection And International Children's Network Connect To Fight Poverty In Africa

The Broadway Artists Connection announces that they are partnering with the International Children's Network to send a team of Broadway & NYC volunteer professionals to mount the first musical ever in Liberia, West Africa with children from the Matsiko World Orphan Choir. The WIZ will open on September 8th, 2018. The International Children's Network has has been committed to providing as many of our world's 600 million orphaned and at-risk children sponsorship for a complete education and now has a dream to open the first national theater.

Theater For The New City's Dream Up Festival Will Present OCCASIONALLY NOTHING

It was inevitable, perhaps, that our post-truth politics would seep into 21st century absurdist theater. One sunny example is 'Occasionally Nothing' by Natalie Menna, which takes us to a dismal time-to-come when something can become a profound, obvious nothing. Life becomes the time in between the sometimes which sometimes happen. The piece won awards in Planet Connections Festivity for developmental staging's, with critics cheering the playwright for her mastery of Theater of the Absurd. Theater for the New City's Dream Up festival will present the work September 8 to 16. Ivette Dumeng directs.

ALL THE KING'S HORSES Opens Tomorrow at The Bridge Theatre

Aching Dogs Theater Company in association with GP Productions presents ALL THE KING'S HORSES written and directed by Pamela Scott at The Bridge Theatre @ Shetler Studios (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor) starting July 26th. The cast includes Gregg Prosser ('The Americans'), Erika Longo ("The Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt") and Kerry McGann (Amazon Prime's "Bloodrunners").

Write Act Rep Annnounces Special Limited Engagement Of THEIR FINEST HOUR: CHURCHILL AND MURROW

Write Act Repertory's Producing Artistic Director John Lant and Anne Mesa are pleased to announce a Special Limited Engagement of the world premiere of Willard Manus' THEIR FINEST HOUR: CHURCHILL AND MURROW.  July 27 - August 5, 2018. The final production in the series, Three By Will In Rep, is directed by Stu Berg. The show returns for two weekends at Write Act Repertory @ The Brickhouse Theatre. This full-length play sheds light on the unique relationship between Winston Churchill and Edward R. Murrow during the early years of WW II when England was under attack by Hitler's Air Force. Murrow, who was covering the war for CBS Radio News, not only became friendly with Churchill, but had a passionate and adulterous love affair with the Prime Ministers daughter-in-law.

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) presents the NYC premiere of AGNES, written by Catya McMullen and directed by Jenna Worsham. Produced by Lesser America, in association with Hugh Hayes, AGNES begins performances on Saturday, September 8 for a limited engagement through Saturday, September 29. Press Opening is Thursday, September 13 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM; and Sunday at 2:30 PM. American Vicarious Presents the World Premiere of PUSHKIN

The american vicarious will present the world premiere of Jonathan Leaf's Pushkin. This limited Off-Broadway engagement will begin performances on July 25th and continue through August 25th only, at at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street). Opening Night is scheduled  for August 5th. The performance runs 90 minutes with no intermission.

B Street Stages WE'RE GONNA BE OKAY

We're Gonna Be Okay received its world premiere in the 2017 Humana Festival and was met with rave reviews for its unique way of telling a story many Americans are familiar with, The Cuban Missile Crisis. It later was produced at the American Theatre Company in Chicago and was listed as one of Time Out: Chicago's "24 Shows To See In January." The story follows two average American families during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Shakespeare In The Square Presents A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

Shakespeare in the Square is proud to present William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream for an exclusive two-week engagement starting August 7 and running through August 19.
