The Actors Studio Of New Jersey Launches Production Fellowship Summer Program
The fellowship supports productions of ROCK OF AGES and THE LIGHTNING THIEF at the Dunellen Theatre in New Jersey.
The Actors Studio of New Jersey, a new professional theater company based in Middlesex County, is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Production Fellowship Program - a paid, hands-on summer fellowship designed to give aspiring theater professionals a real-world entry point into the production side of professional theater. Modeled after a summer internship, the fellowship runs in conjunction with the company's production of Rock of Ages and The Lightning Thief, performed at the Dunellen Theatre, 458 North Ave, Dunellen, NJ.
The program will welcome two Production Fellows who possess a basic foundational knowledge of theatrical production and a genuine desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a working professional production environment. This fellowship is specifically designed for young professionals who are looking to break into the production world of professional theater and who are eager to receive hands-on mentorship from experienced production, creative, and design teams.
Selected fellows will work in the capacity of Assistant Production Managers, embedded directly within the production team from the final weeks of studio rehearsal all the way through load-in, tech week, and the full performance run. This is not a passive observation program - fellows will be active, contributing members of the production team at every stage of the process.
Throughout the fellowship, participants will receive mentorship across all areas of the production, including production management, creative direction, scenic design, lighting, sound, costumes, and props. Fellows will assist with the creation and distribution of call sheets, production schedules, and rehearsal reports; support load-in operations at the Dunellen Theatre; track and distribute technical notes during tech rehearsals; serve as a communication liaison between production and design departments; and attend all performance dates in a production support capacity. Additional duties will be assigned as needed by the Production Manager.
The Production Fellowship runs concurrent with the production calendar of Rock of Ages and The Lightning Thief. Studio rehearsal and production dates in June include June 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28. July production dates include July 16, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26, with the fellowship concluding on closing night, Sunday, July 26, 2026.
This is a paid fellowship.
"We built this fellowship because we believe in investing in the next generation of theater makers," said the leadership of The Actors Studio of New Jersey. "Young professionals deserve access to real professional experience - not just observation - and that's exactly what this program delivers. These two fellows will be mentored through every layer of our production, creative, and design process, and we hope this becomes a launching pad for their careers in professional theater."
To apply, please email studio@actorsstudionj.org a cover letter and resume by June 3rd at 5:30pm.
