BWW Review: North Carolina Theatre's BEAUTY & THE BEAST

Based on Disney's 1991 Academy Award-winning animated film of the same name as well as the classic French fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, Beauty & the Beast tells the story of a bright, beautiful young woman who doesn't seem to fit in with her hometown. She later finds herself trapped in the enchanted castle of a cold-hearted prince who had been magically transformed into a hideous beast as punishment for his selfish ways. To revert back into his true human form, the Beast must first earn the love of this woman before it's too late.
Connecticut Critics Circle Award Winners Announced

The event, which honors the work of the state's professional theaters, was held at Sacred Heart University's Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts June 26. Three-time Tony Award-nominee Terrence Mann was master of ceremonies.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) presents the Tony Award-winning musical '1776,' from the book by Peter Stone, with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards. Directed by Artistic Director and three-time Tony Award nominee Terrence Mann, '1776' is the first show of the 2017 Nutmeg Summer Series and stars Broadway's verterans Jamie LaVerdiere and Gaelen Gilliland as John and AbiGail Adams, Richard Henry as Benjamin Franklin and Adam Harrington as John Dickinson. National Dance Institute (NDI), the non-profit arts education organization founded in 1976 by legendary New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d'Amboise, hosted its 41st Annual Gala at PlayStation Theater in New York City last night, April 24. The Disney classic was so successful it transferred to the stage only three years later and had an exceptional run on Broadway for over 10 years. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Terrence Mann and Executive Producer Matthew J. Pugliese are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2017 Nutmeg Summer Series. The first season under the artistic leadership of Mann will include '1776', 'Noises Off' and 'Disney's Newsies'. The Nutmeg Summer Series will run June 1 through July 16. Subscriptions are now on sale for 2017.
