CASA 0101 Theater, Josefina Lopez, Founding Artistic Director and TNH (Teatro Nuevos Horizontes) Productions, Rigo Tejeda, Founding Artistic Director and Abel Alvarado, Associate Artistic Director will be bringing back their critically acclaimed production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, The Broadway Musical to be presented in association with Councilmember Gil Cedillo and El Centro Del Pueblo featuring a diverse and multicultural cast of 28 actors on the Main Stage of CASA 0101 Theater, 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033 on Todays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m., for a five-week run, May 11 - June 10, 2018. Discounted Preview performances will be presented on May 4, 5 and 6, 2018. Press Opening Night is Today, May 11, 2018.

Redhouse will close its 2017-18 season with the ever-popular musical La Cage aux Folles, book by Harvey Feirstein, based on the play by Jean Poiret. Performances will take place at Redhouse Arts Center, from May 31 - June 10, 2018. In addition, Redhouse will celebrate its Grand Opening of its new home at 400 S. Salina Street with a special event and ribbon cutting taking place June 1st prior to the opening night show. La Cage aux Folles, based on the same 1973 play which was also the inspiration for the movie "The Birdcage" starring Nathan Lane and Robin Williams, will close the 2017/18 season. This comedic and heartfelt show features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, composer of Broadway hits Hello, Dolly! and Mame.

Just last night, the 2018 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out to recipients in 19 categories, with three honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Meteor Shower co-stars Laura Benanti and Jeremy Shamos. This year's event was once again a benefit for The Actors Fund.

you are my sunshine - a new play with folk songs …based on a true story by Kelli Kerslake Colaco is a multi-decade (1927-1956) character study of a man of mythic American proportions whose passions and demons lead to tragedy. Narrated in Woody Guthrie-style folk songs - accompanied by Bay Area music favorites Chris Haugen (guitar) and Trevor Marcom (vocals/guitar), the fact-inspired ensemble drama focuses on the search for truth behind a dark family legend vis-a-vis an ancestor and the women and children in his life.

Tyler McKenzie is an actor, singer, and dancer who has recently played the role of George Eacker in Hamilton: An American Musical on Broadway in New York. He joins the official Hamilton tour for the 2018 season, and he is currently performing in the show at Keller Auditorium in Portland until April 8.

Virginia Theatre association to present Triple Arts Master Class and Program Auditions

On this episode,  writer/composer Richard Thomas visits with actors Terrence Mann and Will Swenson from Thomas' controversial work Jerry Springer -The Opera, which created a sensation in the UK 13 years ago, but was considered so outrageous that it only now premieres in NYC. They discuss the spectacular production by The New Group at The Pershing Square Signature Center, with Michael Musto of NewNowNext.com and Susan Haskins. Next, playwright Jordan Harrison, director Oliver Butler and actor Michael Cyril Creighton talk about their production of Harrison's highly-original and thought-provoking play, The Amateurs, at the Vineyard Theatre, about a theater troop fleeing The Black Death in the Middle Ages and how these actors contributed to the modern dramatic concepts of character and individuality.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Terrence Mann and Executive Producer Matthew J. Pugliese are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series.  The second season under the artistic leadership of three-time Tony Award nominee Mann will include "Disaster!", "Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller In Concert" and "Jesus Christ Superstar". Redhouse Arts Center is thrilled to inaugurate its new City Center home with Ernest Thompson's classic On Golden Pond. Performances will take place March 8-18, 2018 and will mark the first performances at the brand new Redhouse at City Center, located at 400 South Salina Street, which boasts three new theatres, an attached parking garage, full service concession, larger lobby space, and much, much more. The show will feature actor and TV star Fred Grandy, lovingly know as "Gopher" by his millions of fans around the world who watched him on the long-running TV Series The Love Boat. On Golden Pond was adapted to an academy award winning movie in 1981 which starred Henry Fonda who won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Actor in what was his final film role. Don't miss this gorgeously witty and heart warming classic featuring an all star cast.
