Taylor Mac is Broadway's next big thing. His unique new play, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, which stars Nathan Lane, is the talk of the town.

LGBTQ+ artists from NYC, Philadelphia, Paris, Italy, and South Korea will participate in the STONEWALL 50 AT LA MAMA at the Tony Award-winning La MaMa ETC (66 E. 4 St.) from May 23-June 30 as part of WORLD PRIDE, it has been announced by company's artistic director Mia Yoo. 

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus officially opened on Broadway on Sunday night, April 21, 2019. Starring three-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane, Tony Award nominee Kristine Nielsen, and Tony Award winner Julie White, Gary is directed by five-time Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe. Featuring original music by Danny Elfman, and movement by Bill Irwin, Gary is set just after the blood-soaked conclusion of William Shakespeare's first tragedy, Titus Andronicus.

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE announces its 50th Birthday Gala honoring the people and legacy of EST's Marathon of One-Act Plays. The 50th Birthday Gala will take place on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 6:30PM at the New York Museum of Contemporary Art (528 West 39th Street, 3rd Fl.).

Author of 38 plays and 154 sonnets, Shakespeare is widely considered the greatest known writer in the English language. The popularity of his works has spanned centuries, up to and including the current Broadway revival of King Lear, starring Glenda Jackson.

Nathan Lane stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about his new Broadway play, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus. Lane describes the play to Fallon, telling him, 'What Taylor Mac has done is taken three minor characters from 'Titus' and put them in their own show.'

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus officially opens on Broadway today, April 21, 2019.

Don't let the title scare you. All you need to know about Shakespeare's infamously bloody revenge tragedy before laughing yourself silly at Taylor Mac's Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, is that the Bard's final dead body count among Roman nobles is exceedingly high.

Who is Taylor Mac? A question that fans, critics, fellow artists, and even Taylor have been asking since Mac first made an appearance on the downtown theatre scene.

On May 13, the OBIE-winning HERE will honor MacArthur fellow Taylor Mac and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation ArtsProgram at BLOOM, HERE's annual spring gala. The evening celebrates Mac, a playwright, actor, singer-songwriter, performance artist, director and producer and "critical darling of the New York scene" (New York Magazine) who also has been HERE's resident playwright since 2016. Mac's current Broadway debut, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, was commissioned by HERE and written during Mac's residency.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced this morning by the current stars of Waitress, Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan, at the official announcement event at Sardi's Restaurant, which was streamed live online here at BroadwayWorld.

Performance Space New York partners with East Village-based queer funk dance party WET NOISE for a celebratory 12-Hour DANCE-A-THON (May 5, 12pm-12am), a fundraising event that couldn't be further from expectations of what a "fundraising event" entails. The DANCE-A-THON revels in filthy funk music, endless dancing, community building, and inclusivity across age, race, gender, sexuality, and class. DJs tag team in sets as a dynamic give-and-take, throughout the night; they include founding DJ Amber Martin along with Patrick Johnson, Ana Matronic (Scissor Sisters), Seth Kirby (Joshua Light Show), Thomas Campbell, and DatKat (O.E.A.).

Baruch Performing Arts Center, along with New York-based theater company Blessed Unrest and Teatri ODA of Kosovo, will co-present the World Premiere of Refuge from April 25 - May 11 @ 7:30, with a variable weekly schedule and a 5pm performance Sun May 5 (Opening Night April 27) at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (25 Street between Third and Lexington Avenues), NYC. 

The Drama League has announced its final Spring 2019 In Conversation Series events: Gary with Taylor Mac on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., and Judith Light on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. to be held at The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas) in Tribeca.
