Houston Grand Opera's mainstage 2022–23 season has something for everyone and is comprised of 46 performances across seven productions.

Producers Richard Bell, N’Kenge, Park Row Equity Partners, Tegan Summer, Sam Williams, Michael Loeb and Derow Enterprises, in association with Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts and LBlakes Partners, recently presented “The Songs of Dorothy Dandridge! 59E59 Theaters and Oberon Theatre Ensemble announced casting for The Memory Exam by Steven Fechter and directed by Terrence O’Brien. The cast of The Memory Exam will include Alfred Gingold (Equus) as Hank, Gus Kaikkonen (House of Mirth) as Tom, Bekka Lindström (The Sky Inside) as Jen and Vernice Miller (Eve’s Song) as Dale.

The board of directors of JAG Productions, a Vermont and New York City-based theatre company centering Black and Black queer storytelling, recently approved an annual budget of $1.1 million for the 2022/2023 fiscal year.

Lyric Opera of Chicago will kick off the cultural season with a bang as Verdi’s Ernani takes the stage, with performances from September 9 to October 1, 2022. Written as Verdi was coming into his power as a composer, Ernani is a must-see operatic thrill ride full of grand-scale arias, explosive choral numbers, and unforgettable performances.

New York City's newest Off-Broadway theatre presents its first full production, An Unbalanced Mind opening July 24. An Unbalanced Mind is a musical revue exploring the original music of Al Tapper, ranging from pastiche-style songs from the Golden Era of musicals, soaring pop ballads, and toe-tapping dance numbers.

Starting a theatre company is no easy feat, but for a theatre to be around for 50 years is something worth celebrating. You can celebrate 50 years with Des Moines Metro Opera this summer, which just opened up its 50th season with two spectacular productions. The season opened up a sold-out run of The Gershwin's 'Porgy and Bess' with Simon Estes in his farewell performance. I've heard excellent things about the production. The opera continued its opening weekend with 'The Voice' finalist John Holiday in Benjamin Britten's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' based on the Shakespeare play by the same name.

Los Angeles indie rock quartet Goon released their final single “Emily Says.” Frontman Kenny Becker wrote “Emily Says” about his wife Emily Elkin, a brilliant cellist who currently plays in Angel Olsen’s band and has played with Olivia Rodrigo, Halsey, Troye Sivan, Thee Oh Sees, Mikal Cronin and more.
