Who Will Taylor Swift Play in CATS Film? Andrew Lloyd Webber Reveals Her Role!

As BroadwayWorld reported in July, Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson will lead Tom Hooper's upcoming film adaptation of CATs as 'Grizabella', alongside Ian McKellen, James Corden, and Taylor Swift. Until now, their roles had not yet been announced, but Andrew Lloyd Webber has just revealed that Swift will take on either Bombalurina or Demeter. 

Sheen Center to Feature Poetry, Rap and Spoken Word

This fall, The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture presents special events featuring some of brightest poets, spoken word and rap artists. Participating artists include poet Sarah Kay; acclaimed spoken word poet Anis Mojgani, writer, poet and author Clint Smith; poet, essayist, and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib; celebrated spoken word poet Caridad de la Cruz; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author reg. e. gaines; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Sharon Olds and spoken word poet and founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E.and T.S. Eliot Prize winning poet Ocean Vuong.

Irish Arts Center Presents New Season Of Muldoon's Picnic

Muldoon's Picnic - the critically acclaimed omnium-gatherum of music, storytelling, poetry, and more - has become a staple of New York's cultural diet. Led by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon, this words-and-music jamboree features an evolving lineup of world-class special guests from across the spectrum of arts and letters. Returning for its eighth season at Irish Arts Center (553 West 51st Street, New York) on September 10, October 8, and November 12, the series will feature playwright Sarah Ruhl, jazz singer Cassandra Wilson, poet Kimiko Hahn, singer-songwriter Chris Collingwood (Fountains of Wayne),Vogue Creative Digital Director Sally Singer and more.

Sheen Center Announces Fall/Winter Season 2018

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture has announced its 2018 Fall/Winter season, a rich program of theater, film, music, poetry, art, and talk events featuring artists and thought leaders including Princeton professors Cornel Westand Robert P. George; Grammy Award winner George Winston; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author Reg E. Gaines; Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and Oscar-winning writer and director John Patrick Shanley; Pulitzer Prize winning poet Sharon Olds; the Tony-nominated star of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child, Jamie Parker;Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche with special guests The Indigo Girls; Benedictine nun and former Hollywood leading lady Mother Dolores Hart, O.S.B.; Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York; and events tackling topical national themes including civility on college campuses; police and refugee relations; and race, faith and identity politics.  

Primary Stages Announces Casting For FINAL FOLLIES And DOWNSTAIRS

Primary Stages (Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Shane D. Hudson, Executive Director; Casey Childs, Founder) is proud to announce complete casting today for the first two productions of their 2018/19 season: Final Follies, by A.R. Gurney (Love Letters, Sylvia, Black Tie at Primary Stages) and directed by David Saint (Clever Little Lies), and Downstairs by Theresa Rebeck ("Smash," Dead Accounts, Poor Behavior at Primary Stages), directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (What We're Up Against). All performances will take place at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St, New York, NY, 10014).

Christopher Lloyd To Star In POUND At The Lion Theatre

Triumvirate Artists, a NYC-based production company that most recently created the Off-Broadway show "Delirium's Daughters," announces that Drama Desk and multiple Emmy Award-winning actor Christopher Lloyd will star as Ezra Pound in their upcoming play, "POUND." The show will debut as a limited engagement for 16 performances from October 4 to 28, 2018 at The Lion Theatre, located at 410 West 42nd Street, New York, NY.

The Dramatists Guild of America and Cherry Lane Theatre are launching the Power Grid Festival on July 10, 2018. Power Grid: A Festival of Puerto Rican Theater Voices is a fundraising festival of six play readings by six Puerto Rican playwrights: Sylvia Bofill, Kisha Tikina Burgos, Joaquin Octavio Gonzalez Rios, Gil Rene Rodriguez, Tere Martinez, and Myrna Casas.

Bard SummerScape Presents World Premiere of FOUR QUARTETS

75 years ago T.S. Eliot published Four Quartets, a poetic meditation on time and memory that is widely regarded as his crowning achievement. Now, to celebrate this milestone anniversary, Bard SummerScape 2018 presents the world premiere of Four Quartets, the first authorized dance performance ever to be based on Eliot's modernist masterpiece. A SummerScape commission, the new work is an interdisciplinary collaboration that draws on the talents of three of today's most potent artistic voices. Since making her acclaimed festival debut at SummerScape 2015, Pam Tanowitz has been recognized as "one of the most formally brilliant choreographers around" (New York Times), with honors including a Bessie Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the prestigious 2017 Cage Cunningham Fellowship.

Announcing The 2018-19 Broadway On Tour Season At The Community Center Theater

Broadway Sacramento announced the 2018 - 19 Broadway On Tour season at the Community Center Theater, sponsored by Wells Fargo, featuring four shows not previously presented in the series and three that are favorites of Broadway Sacramento audiences. The season features Sacramento premieres of On Your Feet!, Waitress, Aladdin, and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. Returning shows are a newly-updated Stomp, which was presented twice before by Broadway On Tour; the new Lincoln Center Theater production of Falsettos, which was presented once before; and the brand new revival of Cats, which has previously been presented twice each by Broadway On Tour and Broadway At Music Circus.

THE RAINMAKER Begins Performances Next Week

Blackfriars Repertory Theatre celebrates their 20th anniversary with a new production of N. Richard Nash's The Rainmaker, co-producing with The Storm Theatre Company.Performances begin on April 27 with opening night scheduled for May 5 in the Black Box Theater at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture.

Da Camera Announces its 2018-19 Season

Da Camera of Houston celebrates 31 years of presenting chamber music and jazz concerts with the announcement of its 2018/2019 season, themed "Time Future Time Past." The title is taken from Four Quartets, a poem by T.S. Eliot: "Time present and time past / Are both perhaps present in time future / And time future contained in time past…" With a lineup spanning styles and genres, Da Camera's 2018/2019 season explores the progression of time. The season also marks visionary artist director Sarah Rothenberg's 25th anniversary season with Da Camera.
