Rachael Sage Celebrates International Women's Day with Song Releases Today

In celebration of International Women's Day, Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Rachael Sage has released the acoustic version of her longtime fan favorite “Sistersong” along with a fan-sourced video for her song “Spark” via Popmatters. Both songs appear on her forthcoming album PseudoMyopia, out March 22 via MPress Records/ILS/Universal.

Meany Center's Creative Fellowships Initiative Announces Full Roster

The University of Washington has announced the complete roster of artists who have been selected as Creative Research Fellows as part of its first three-year Creative Fellowships Initiative. Funded by a $750,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the interdisciplinary initiative will advance the field of performing arts by supporting artists in the development of new works and by integrating the performing arts disciplines into a broader context academically, artistically, and socially.

On its tenth anniversary, New York City Mayor, Ed Koch, named the Cornelia Street Cafe 'a culinary as well as a cultural landmark.' Now that landmark will close its doors at 29 Cornelia Street for good on January 2, 2019. A year ago, The New York Times reported that the Cafe was in trouble, with a soaring rent threatening closure. An official reason for the shuttering has not been revealed, but according to DNAInfo, landlord Mark Scharfman is 'a frequent fixture on various 'Worst Landlord' lists.'

A songwriter's songwriter, Pierce Pettis is back with his first new studio album in nearly a decade with FATHER'S SON, out January 18 on Compass Records. You can listen to the opening track,'Wouldn't Change It For the World,' HERE. Featuring 10 tracks, including a cover of Jesse Winchester's “A Showman's Life,” the Alabama songwriter writes about friends he's lost, childhood memories, and the relationships he's experienced both as a son and a father on these deeply moving, literate songs. FATHER'S SON, reuniting Pettis with producer Garry West, was recorded “live on the floor, with the band, with minimal overdubs, to capture the energy and authenticity of Pierce's performances.”

The Alley Theatre announces the line-up for the 2019 Alley All New Festival, January 18 - January 27, 2019. The fourth annual Festival will feature a world premiere production, readings and workshop performances of five new plays, as well as an Early Draft Preview of a new musical. Festival playwrights include Robert Askins, Hilary Bettis, Glen Berger, Chisa Hutchinson, Claire Kiechel, Don Nguyen, and Lawrence Wright. Special packages are available for the final weekend of the Festival and include prime seating at all presentations, exclusive artist access, and meals between performances.
