Alliance Theatre Announces WE'RE STILL HERE: A VIRTUAL CABARET

The Alliance Theatre has announced a free variety show featuring Broadway stars Terry Burrell (Ethel) and Courtenay Collins (The Prom).  Burrell and Collins will alternate as hostess as they entertain audiences from home with songs, stories, special cocktails, and maybe a surprise guest or two.  We're Still Here: A Virtual Cabaret will be streamed live on the Alliance's Facebook page and YouTube channel each Thursday at 7:00 p.m., July 9 a?" August 13.  

Alliance Theatre Announces HANDS UP

As part of its 2020/21 season the Alliance will produce HANDS UP in association with Spelman College. Across seven monologues written by seven Black playwrights, HANDS UP depicts the realities of Black America from the perspective of varying genders, sexual orientations, skin tones, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Cast & Creative Team Announced for Michael Arden Directed MAYBE HAPPY ENDING

The Alliance Theatre announced casting today for its upcoming new musical MAYBE HAPPY ENDING. Written in two versions - English-language and Korean-language - the Korean-language version had its world premiere in Seoul, Korea, in 2016, where it won six Korean Musical Awards including the awards for Best Book, Lyrics, and Music. The English-language version was awarded the 2017 Richard Rodgers Production Award and will have its American Premiere at the Alliance Theatre on The Coca-Cola Stage Jan. 21 - Feb. 16, 2020. MAYBE HAPPY ENDING is by Will Aronson (Book & Music) and Hue Park (Book & Lyrics) and is directed by two-time Tony Award® nominee Michael Arden (Once on This Island, Spring Awaking).

COURTENAY'S CABARET: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS Will Return to The Alliance Theatre

The Alliance Theatre has announced the return of its popular holiday production, Courtenay's Cabaret: Home for the Holidays. Following her starring role in the Tony-nominated musical The Prom, Courtenay Collins, will return to the Hertz Stage with her beloved holiday cabaret that includes music, stories, surprises, cookies, and Courtenay's signature charm and good humor.

Rehearsals are underway for the Alliance Theatre's upcoming production of the Off-Broadway hit comedy and 2016 Critics' Pick SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS, by Drama Desk Award Winner Bess Wohl (Pretty Filthy). 

Three Atlanta Middle Schools Awarded Fully Funded Three-Year JumpStart Theatre Program

After an extensive selection process, the Alliance Theatre named the three Atlanta area middle schools they will partner with for the regional launch of The JumpStart Theatre program, developed by the Educational Theatre Association. JumpStart Theatre is a three-year program that will equip faculty and administrators with the skills and resources to produce their school's first musical theatre production.

Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards Announce First Round Of 2019 Recipients

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, announces the recipients of the first round of the 2019 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $509,000, allow 13 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

Alliance 51 Announces Lineup for 2019/2020 Season

Atlanta's nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre and Jennings Hertz Artistic Director Susan V. Booth are pleased to announce the productions of the Theater's 51st season.  Since opening in 1968 the Alliance has been dedicated to expanding hearts and minds on stage and off with diverse programming for all ages.  The 2019/20 season marks the Alliance's first full season back in its transformed performance space, the newly opened Coca-Cola Stage.

Alliance Presents World Premiere By Pearl Cleage

The Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce the world premiere of ANGRY, RAUCOUS AND SHAMELESSLY GORGEOUS by acclaimed Atlanta author and playwright, Pearl Cleage.  In this funny and hopeful new play, artists from different generations and worldviews must find a way to reconcile their different beliefs and make peace with lingering ghosts from the past.  The play looks closely at women as they age, their place in society as they age, and how women's voices are heard and when throughout their lives.  Directed by the Alliance Theatre's Artistic Director Susan V. Booth, ANGRY, RAUCOUS AND SHAMELESSLY GORGEOUS will premiere on the Alliance's newly renovated Coca-Cola Stage from March 20 - April 14, 2019.  Opening Night is Wednesday, March 27, 7:30 p.m.
