The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre announces the cast and creative team of its 76th season kick-off production – Clue, with screenplay by Jonathan Lynn, written by Sandy Rustin with additional material by Hunter Foster and Eric Price.

This spring, Brendan Bourque-Sheil's story of a woman dealing with life's impossible changes is one of Houston's best plays. Set in the fictional town of Buxtop, Texas, the protagonist, Hallie (Susan Koozin), wakes up after an overdose and the resultant story is about how a person copes with almost impossible odds.

Based on the hit-film, Sister Act is a feel-good musical comedy that is bringing joy, song and laughter to the people of Houston. Sister Act tells the story of a nightclub singer (Deloris) who is forced to take refuge from the mob in a convent. The story brings brings audiences joy and laughter as Deloris turns the convent choir into a soulful chorus complete with a Motown repertoire. Patrons of Theatre Under the Stars are captivated as we watch Deloris maneuver through the the sudden celebrity of the choir jeopardizing her identity.

One of the things that drew me to Houston theatre as a young audience member was when I began to recognize the faces onstage. After spending some time in Houston, you start to recognize the same smiling, singing faces (and make a habit of looking forward to seeing their name appear in your program!) This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with one of these familiar faces, the lovely Susan Koozin! We talked about her start in Houston theatre, the joy of SISTER ACT, and how it feels to return to the stage after all this time.

Rec Room Arts continues its fourth season with the Obie-Award winning play, Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Julia Oppenheim Traber. This riveting Houston premiere begins previews March 26, with an official press opening on Saturday, March 28, followed by an opening reception at Rec Room's Bar. Performances will run through April 18.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??Rec Room Arts (Artistic Director, Matt Hune) opens the 2019/20 season with the regional premiere of Lucy Kirkwood's harrowing new play, The Children. Performances begin November 9 at 7:30 and continue through December 7.

This one has everything you could want - broadly drawn characters, exotic settings, and a spectacular murder with no shortage of suspects. It's a great thriller to chill you off this summer. 

The Alley Theatre and Rob Melrose, new Artistic Director of the Tony Award -winning Alley Theatre, announce the cast and crew of the ExxonMobil Summer Chills production, Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, Adapted by Ken Ludwig, offering a cool escape from the sizzling summer heat. Murder on the Orient Express will be Rob Melrose's directorial debut on the Alley stage. The crime thriller runs July 19-August 25, 2019, on the Hubbard Theatre stage. Despite funding cuts, bureaucrats run amok, apathy, and a rodent infestation, a small, multiracial group of teachers launch a last-minute effort to save the school, and put their careers, futures, and safety in the hands of a fast-talking administrator who may be in way over his head. The tenuous situation also raises fears and anxieties among students and within the volcanic neighborhood that surrounds the school.
