Pittsburgh Festival Opera Announces 2020 Season

Pittsburgh Festival Opera has released the details of its 2020 schedule. Productions this season include classic opera, one world premiere, one Pennsylvania premiere and the conclusion of Pittsburgh's Ring Cycle with scenes from Siegfried and Twilight of the Gods in concert. The Festival also presents a wider breadth of programming in different venues to include lectures, a poetry reading, two concerts by its Young Artists Program and festival favorite Daphne Alderson. The Festival runs from July 11 until July 26, 2020.

Studio Theatre is One of Eight Theaters Nationally to Receive Multi-Year Doris Duke Grant

Studio Theatre is one of eight theatres across the country, and the only arts organization in Washington, DC, to receive an 18-month capacity building grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation's (DDCF) Building Demand for the Arts program, the Foundation announced this week. The program funds artists and arts institutions working to forge long-lasting relationships with diverse audiences.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley Celebrates 50th Birthday With RAGTIME

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will celebrate its 50th birthday in April 2020 with the return of the timeless hit musical Ragtime, helmed by Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three familiesa?"white, African American, and immigranta?"finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring the Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and the Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), the musical is based on E. L. Doctorow's best-selling novel of the same name. An enthusiastic favorite much anticipated by TheatreWorks audiences, Ragtime will begin performances April 1, 2020 and has already been extended by a week to May 3, 2020 (press opening: April 4, 2020) at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Mountain View, CA 94041. Millikin University Launches New Theatre And Performance Studies Degree Program

The Millikin University School of Theatre & Dance has announced the launch of a new Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre and Performance Studies degree program to replace its current Bachelor of Arts in Theatre degree program. Students can be admitted into the new degree program starting in fall 2020.

HOT TRAGIC DEAD THING Makes World Premiere At The Blank Theatre

The Blank Theatre in Hollywood has announced the world premiere production of Hot Tragic Dead Thing by Ashley Rose Wellman, directed by Christopher James Raymond. There will be two preview performances on Wednesday, February 26, and Thursday, February 27 at 8pm, and opening is set for Friday, February 28, at 8pm. The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Max Banta, Reed Campbell, Nikki DeParis, Wes McGee, Marguerite Moreau, and Siete White. Daniel Henning and Bree Pavey are the producers.

Portland Actors Conservatory Presents NEVER IN MY LIFETIME

Never In My Lifetime, by Shirley Gee, is a Romeo and Juliet style love story, set in the mid 1970s amid the backdrop of the brutal conflict between the English and the Irish (The Troubles). As expected, there are no villains or martyrs in this war-torn stretch of Northern Ireland. Everyone becomes his brother's enemy. It is a story of survival and the indomitable human spirit in Belfast, a city reminiscent of any in the world where there is violence and conflict.  

Segal Centre Presents Louise Pitre In THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'

The Segal Centre is thrilled to be welcoming back Tony nominee and 4-time Dora winner Louise Pitre and W. Joseph Matheson (as seen in 2018's hit The Angel and the Sparrow) for a concert celebration of Jewish musical artists of the 60s. American Blues Theater Names 2020 Blue Ink Playwriting Award Recipient, Announces 2020 Blue Ink Festival

American Blues Theater, under the continued leadership of Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside, announces the winner of the 2020 Blue Ink Playwriting Award is Recent Unsettling Events by Andrea Stolowitz. A staged reading of the play will be presented as part of the 2020 Blue Ink Playwriting Festival, along with new work by finalists Football Football Football Football (or I Love Lave Dash) by Kristoffer Diaz, The Mermaids' Parade by Gina Femia, and Crying on Television by R.
