Emmy Award-winning actor Andre Braugher has passed away at the age of 61. 

The Coolidge Corner Theatre ('the Coolidge') has announced the early lineup for its Winter / Early Spring 2023 Big Screen Classics series. 

SeriesFest, the award-winning international television festival and non-profit organization, revealed the winners of the Season 8 independent pilot competition at an awards presentation, presented by Hyde Park Jewelers, on Closing Night at The Cable Center in Denver, CO on Tuesday, May 10 . Esteemed jurors screened 56 pilots from creative voices around the globe at this year’s celebration of episodic storytelling, and selected winners in various categories including “Best Independent Pilot, “Best Digital Short Series,” “Late Night,” “Audience Award” and “Pitch-A-Thon.”  See full list below including honorable mentions.

Fifteen screenwriters will convene to advance their independent projects at Sundance Institute's January Screenwriters Lab, taking place at the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah, from January 17-22, 2020. At the Lab, the screenwriters will immerse themselves in a rigorous and holistic creative process, working to further develop their scripts with the mentorship of accomplished Creative Advisors.

Joana Vicente and Cameron Bailey, Co-Heads of TIFF, today announced the TIFF Tribute Gala, an annual awards fundraiser to support TIFF's year-round programmes and core mission to transform the way people see the world through film, and to celebrate the film industry's outstanding contributors. The event takes place Monday, September 9 at the Fairmont Royal York, during the 44th Toronto International Film Festival. To recognize their leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema, the TIFF Tribute Gala will introduce the new TIFF Impact Award. Participant Media will receive the inaugural award, which will be accepted by Founder and Chairman Jeff Skoll and CEO David Linde, marking an incredible 15 years of social action through storytelling. The TIFF Tribute Gala will also include the new Mary Pickford Award, honouring a female emerging talent in the industry. ITVS announced today that, with four new films premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2019, the organization has now funded and co-produced more than 100 Sundance premieres.
