Linda Lavin returned to the historic Birdland stage last night with a show titled 'My Second Farewell Concert'. The musicianship and entertainment of her performance will make it very hard for Ms. Lavin in any way have a real 'Farewell Concert'. More accurately the title should have been one of her prior shows called 'Starting Over.'

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway and television actress Linda Lavin for two very special concerts on the historic stage this past week. The show, wryly entitled 'My First Farewell Concert,' is Lavin's personal story told in songs she loves. She performed favorites from the Great American/Brazilian/Yiddish Songbooks, with Billy Stritch at the piano, Steve Bakunas on drums, Ron Affif on guitar, Tom Hubbard on bass, and special guest Aaron Weinstein on violin. The event was taped in front of a sold-out audience on Monday, January 11, with Frank's very special guest Jonathan Groff, who is currently starring on Broadway as King George in the smash hit HAMILTON. Abingdon Theatre Company just celebrated its 2015-2016 Season with ABINGDON: REFLECTIONS OF STARLIGHT, last night, October 26 at Espace (635 West 42nd Street in Manhattan). Richard Jay-Alexander, best known for directing Barbra Streisand and other artists in concert, directed the event, honoring Tony Award-winning costume designer Jane Greenwood, who designed Abingdon's acclaimed production of Hellman v. McCarthy; Abingdon Theatre Company's Vice Chair and former Managing Director, Heather Henderson; and one of New York's most prominent lawyers in entertainment, Mark Sendroff.
