Sarasota Film Festival Produces Another Great Festival
Laura Benanti has been cast in the true-life biographical drama What Is Life Worth, according to Deadline. The film, which stars Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci, is directed by Sara Colangelo and will begin production this month.
Parity Productions, the New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, opened Charlie's Waiting by Inaugural Parity Commission Winner Melisa Annis on March 31 at Theaterlab (357 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018) hosted by TLab Shares. Charlie's Waiting is playing an extended run of 21 performances now through April 20. The cast is led by Tony nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Broadway: Coram Boy, Candida), and features Stephanie Heitman (A Snowfall in Berlin), and Amy Scanlon (Balladeers Play to the Moon) and is directed by Parity Productions Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar Hauser.

The Audio Publishers Association (APA), the premiere trade organization of audiobooks and spoken word entertainment, announces today the winners of last night's annual awards gala, The Audie Awards. The event was hosted by Queer Eye fashion expert, upcoming memoirist and audiobook narrator, Tan France, who lent his charming personality and delightful wit to the evening's festivities. The Audies recognizes outstanding achievement from the authors, narrators, publishers, and producers of the most talked-about audiobooks in the industry. This year's most prestigious award, Audiobook of the Year, has been named Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone, published by Macmillan Audio.

WBUR, Boston's NPR news station, and The New York Times, in partnership with the Huntington Theatre Company, are celebrating Valentine's Day with a special live performance of Modern Love: The Podcast. Hosted by Meghna Chakrabarti (host of Modern Love: The Podcast as well as NPR & WBUR's On Point) with Daniel Jones (editor of the NYT "Modern Love" column), the event will be a live recording of the hit podcast featuring three Modern Love essays read by top actors from stage and screen. It will also feature a live musical performance. Modern Love Live will take place on Sat., Feb. 16, 2019 at 8 p.m. at the Huntington Avenue Theatre, 264 Huntington Ave. Tickets go on sale to the general public Thursday, Dec. 20. Today the 34th Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced that Michael B. Jordan is set to receive the Cinema Vanguard Award for his work in two of the year's critically acclaimed, culturally significant and record-breaking box office hits, Black Panther and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM), Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema's Creed II. Jordan will be honored at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, CA on Thursday, February 7th.

The LA Film Festival, produced by Film Independent, announced the winners of the 2018 Festival at the Awards Reception at the W Hotel in Hollywood presided over by Festival Director Jennifer Cochis and Film Independent President Josh Welsh.
