The Canadian Opera Company announced its 2023/2024 season today featuring a slate of exciting new productions and rare musical gems.

The winners of the 51st George and Nora London Foundation Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers, one of the opera world's oldest and most prestigious competitions, were announced at the conclusion of the competition's final round this evening, which took place at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City. The event took place before an in-person audience for the first time since 2020, and was also livestreamed.

Following is the program of the George and Nora London Foundation Competition Finals, which will be livestreamed free of charge from The Morgan Library Museum's Gilder Lehrman Hall on Friday, February 17, at 4:00 pm ET.

​​​​​​​Wagner's soaring masterpiece Lohengrin returns to the Met stage after 17 years, in a new production by internationally renowned director François Girard. The production runs from February 26th-April 1st.

The highly anticipated 2022-2023 season of the Met Opera kicked off with the company’s first-ever performance of Cherubini’s Medea. Rarely performed, it is an operatic adaption of the Greek myth. The Ridgefield Playhouse will screen an encore presentation on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 2pm.

The Met HD Opera Series MEDEA will be presented at the Greenbrier Valley Theatre this weekend. The event is set for Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Having triumphed at the Met in some of the repertory’s fiercest soprano roles, Sondra Radvanovsky opens the new season as the mythic sorceress who will stop at nothing in her quest for vengeance—a tour-de-force role made famous by opera’s ultimate diva, Maria Callas.

Written over 400 years ago, Cherubini’s MEDEA finally made it to the Met on the season’s opening night, in a new production by David McVicar. Was it worth the wait? If you take it for Sondra Radvanovsky’s performance in the title role, a chilling, a Herculean task, it earns an unqualified yes. She’s not afraid to rant and rave, or emit ugly sounds to show off her anger.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live high-definition cinema broadcasts, distributed in the UK by Trafalgar Releasing, will begin its 16th season this October with a live broadcast of Cherubini's rarely performed Medea.  From October 2022 – June 2023, ten incredible performances will be broadcast live from the Met stage in New York to cinemas worldwide.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim will present a preview presentation of The Metropolitan Opera's upcoming production of Medea by Luigi Cherubini, featuring performance highlights and panel discussion with the creative team. The event will take place on Monday, September 19, 7:30 pm.

Raehann Bryce-Davis, the young mezzo-soprano whose star has been rising since her 2018 George London Award win, performs the first recital of the George London Foundation for Singers 2022-23 season on Sunday, October 2, at 4 pm at The Morgan Library & Museum.

New York City Opera will present an abridged version of Donizetti's classic Lucia di Lammermoor on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 7pm as part of Bryant Park Picnic Performances presented by Bank of America.
