Disney has officially been making magic on Broadway for 25 years! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Disney on Broadway is partnering with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to put on a special benefit to celebrate the momentous occasion. We're getting in on the celebration by looking back at Disney's show-stopping productions, from classics like Beauty and the Beast and Newsies to current favorites like Aladdin and Frozen. A star-studded lineup of Broadway's best will share the beloved songs of Disney on Broadway like never before at Celebrating 25 Magical Years of Disney on Broadway on Monday, November 4, 2019. The special, one-night-only event benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600) will honor cinematographer John Simmons, ASC, with the ASC Cinematography Mentor Award and journalist Debra Kaufman with the Technicolor William A. Fraker Award at the 2019 Emerging Cinematographer Awards (ECA) Luncheon in the ASC Clubhouse on Friday, October 4, 2019. The ECA premier event will be held on Sunday, October 6, at the Television Academy's Wolf Theatre in the Saban Media Center.

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, has acquired the domestic rights to the new spiritual drama IMMORTAL HERO. Directed by Hiroshi Akabane and starring Hisaaki Takeuchi, Yoshiko Sengen, Tamao Sato, and Kei Kinoshita, IMMORTAL HERO is based on the original story by Executive Producer Ryuho Okawa and adapted to the screen by his daughter, Sayaka Okawa. IMMORTAL HERO will make its world premiere at the 2019 San Diego International Film Festival in the narrative competition category on October 16, 2019 at the Theatre Box, followed by a theatrical release on October 18th.

He set about to collect a wide variety of ghost stories, true otherworldly encounters by Michiganders from Milan to Marquette. This September 26-October 6, the Cherry kicks off our production season with The Shoe by Québec playwright David Paquet. Paquet is a recipient of the Governor General's Award for Drama and the Prix Michel Tremblay, and The Shoe is his newest play, to be seen for the first time in English at the Cherry. The Shoe uses inventive magical realism to tell the funny and profound story of an unusual young boy named Benoit and the adults who care for him. The French world première won the Best Play and Playwright awards in Vancouver. Press there said the play, like Benoit himself, is 'a Kinder Surprise: you come for the comedy, but stay for the lucid observations.'
