Anyone that has read my reviews or columns over the years knows that I always pay attention to the orchestrations and orchestrator of any given musical. Let’s face it, without the orchestrator, the score is only a piano.
Today’s subject Doug Besterman has been living his theatre life for many years as an orchestrator for Broadway, regional, and West End theatre as well as doing scoring for films and TV.

Ali Ewoldt To Lead Signature Theatre's SHE LOVES ME

Jelani Alladin Joins Disney+ BEAUTY & THE BEAST Prequel Series

Alladin will play a series regular in the new eight-episode series. He joins the previously announced Luke Evans and Josh Gad, who will reprise their roles from the 2017 live-action film. Signature Theatre has announced that works by local playwrights Aeneas Sagar Hemphill, Tuyet Thi Pham and Olivia Luzquinos have been selected for the 2022 season of SigWorks: Monday Night New Play Readings. Their plays, Ada (Aeneas Sagar Hemphill), Dinner and Cake (Tuyet Thi Pham) and Damn Things Will Kill Ya (Olivia Luzquinos) will be read on February 7, March 7 and May 9, respectively.
Carol Burnett to Receive Sondheim Award at Signature Theatre

TDF Announces the Recipients of the FY 2022 TAP-Plus Grants

Keen Company has announced its first musical commission: a new musical by Adam Gwon (Ordinary Days, Scotland, PA). Keen presented Gwon’s Ordinary Days in Fall of 2018 to great acclaim, including a nomination for the 2019 Drama League Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical (Broadway or Off-Broadway).
