The Lucille Lortel Awards, the preeminent honor presented exclusively to recognize Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway, have confirmed their return to a LIVE in-person celebration on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 7:00PM at NYU Skirball. All New York University.

On Her Shoulders will present a virtual reading program: ON THE THIN CRUST OF CIVILIZATION: The Plays of Marita Bonner, directed by Magaly Colimon-Christopher, via NPTC's YouTube Channel: NewPerspectivesTC. 

Contra Costa Civic Theatre concludes its live, in-person Main Stage season with the musical Crowns by Regina Taylor, adapted from the book “Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats” by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry. Directed by Kimberly Ridgeway, with music direction by Branice McKenzie and choreography by Jennifer Frazier, Crowns plays for 15 performances from April 15-May 15.

BroadwayWorld has learned that the new musical KPOP is expected to announce a Broadway run led by a 'major international star' at an event next week at the Korean Cultural Center in New York. The musical is rumored to be led by real-life K-Pop star Luna.

Prospect Theater Company announced today the complete casting for their upcoming work-in-process concert presentation of The Oscar Micheaux Suite. The concert performances of The Oscar Micheaux Suite will take place on Saturday, March 26th at 2pm & 7pm, and Sunday, March 27th at 2pm at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street).

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced today the full cast for the upcoming west coast premiere chamber choir musical, Octet written by three- time Tony Award nominee Dave Malloy (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) and directed by Annie Tippe, produced by special arrangement with Diana DiMenna and Plate Spinner Productions.

Announced today is Millennials Are Killing Musicals, a new musical written by NAMT and Drama League Award-winner Nico Juber, which will receive an industry reading on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 11:00am and 2:00pm at Open Jar Studios, and will be presented in a public concert on Monday, April 4th at 9:30pm at Feinstein’s/54 Below.

The production, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (RENT, A Chorus Line) features Ali Ewoldt (Broadway's Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera) as Amalia Balash, and Deven Kolluri (Geva Theatre's A Christmas Carol, Bay Street Theater's Camelot) as Georg Nowack.
