BWW Feature: CARPENTERS TRIBUTE CONCERT at Starbright Theatre

The Carpenters transformed music in the 1970s and '80s as one of the biggest-selling American acts, and their legacy lives on. The Carpenter's Tribute Concert, recreating the 1976 United Kingdom tour, will be performed in Las Vegas for one night at the Starbright Theatre on Aug. 10.

Laguna Playhouse and Lythgoe Family Panto announce that acclaimed TV and Broadway actor John O'Hurley ("Seinfeld," "Dancing with the Stars," Broadway's Chicago) is set to star as "Captain Hook" and Ashley Argota (Laguna Playhouse Beauty and the Beast: A Christmas Rose) will star as "Tinker Bell" in Lythgoe Family Panto's upcoming PETER PAN AND TINKER BELL: A PIRATES' CHRISTMAS.

Sundance Institute Announces 2019 Creative Producing Labs & Summit

Sundance Institute today announced Fellows and Advisors for the five-day 2019 Creative Producing Labs, as well as the three-day Creative Producing Summit which immediately follows; both take place at Utah's Sundance Mountain Resort. The Labs begins July 29, and the Summit August 2. These are the flagship convenings for the Institute's Creative Producing Program, which champions and develops current and rising generations of producers across fiction and nonfiction film.

Showtime Documentary Films today announced it will premiere the new documentary HITSVILLE: THE MAKING OF MOTOWN from directors Benjamin and Gabe Turner (Class of 92, I Am Bolt, One Direction: This Is Us) on Saturday, August 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The remarkable story of the legendary Motown Records is told through new and exclusive interviews with the label's visionary founder, Berry Gordy, and many of its superstar artists and creative figures, as well as rare performances and behind-the-scenes footage unearthed from Motown's vaults and Gordy's personal archives. HITSVILLE: THE MAKING OF MOTOWN is the first documentary about the iconic label with Gordy's participation.

Tami Nelson to Play Rockwood Music Hall

Canadian-born, New Zealand-based vocalist Tami Neilson is a firecracker.  Her music cannot be singularly categorized for she channels the spirits of Patsy Cline and Sharon Jones and beyond.  She's an artist with a tremendous range: there is her powerful big-ballad voice, her golden-age of country Americana, the heartfelt Gospel, soul-infused R'n'B, Western swing or belting old style Rock 'n' roll.  Tami encompasses them all and is a personality-powered cyclonic force of nature in stylishly retro attire, long lashes and a stacked-high beehive.  The UK's Guardian has asserted that “her powerhouse voice recalls 1950s stars such as Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline.”

Alicia Keys, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul to Executive Produce Musical Drama Series for Showtime

SHOWTIME has made a series commitment to an untitled musical drama series executive produced by multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys and the Oscar, Tony and Grammy winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman). Pasek and Paul will contribute music to the series. Kyle Jarrow (The SpongeBob Musical) will write and executive produce. Tony winner and Oscar nominated producer Marc Platt (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, The Band's Visit, La La Land), Emmy winner R.J. Cutler (Nashville, American High), and Emmy winner Adam Siegel (Grease: Live!) will executive produce. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

Recording Academy Announces Executive Producers for 62nd & 63rd GRAMMYS

The Recording Academy has announced that longtime producer/executive producer of the GRAMMY Awards®telecasts since 1980, Ken Ehrlich, will executive produce the upcoming 62nd GRAMMY Awards. The telecast, taking place in 2020, will mark Ehrlich's milestone 40th anniversary.
