Studio 180 Theatre Announces 20th Anniversary Season

Studio 180 Theatre is returning to in-person performances in the 2022-23 season, marking their 20th anniversary with their first 3-play season in three different venues, working with five different partners.

Irish Yiddishist Caraid O'Brien to Adapt Sholem Asch's RABBI DOCTOR SILVER

Theater J, the nation’s largest and most prominent Jewish theater and Solas Nua, Washington DC’s leading multidisciplinary Irish arts organization, have announced a co-commission of Irish Yiddishist Caraid O’Brien. O’Brien will translate and adapt Sholem Asch’s classic Yiddish play Rabbi Doctor Silver. 

San Francisco Playhouse Announces 20th Season

San Francisco Playhouse announced today the six plays that will comprise its 2022/23 Season. This marks the company’s 20th season since its founding in 2003 and celebrates the company’s commitment to producing bold, challenging, and uplifting plays and musicals for the Bay Area community. The season will begin in September 2022.

Skylight Music Theatre Announces Cast & Creative Team for HUNCHBACK

Skylight Music Theatre today announced the partial cast, creative team and a one-day sale for the Wisconsin premiere of Dennis DeYoung’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, running May 20 through June 12, 2022. Performances take place in the beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

TNC Presents New Yiddish Rep In DI FROYEN" (THE WOMEN) This January

From January 22-30, Theater for the New City will present the New Yiddish Rep's production of 'Di Froyen' (The Women), based on the play 'Women's Minyan' by Naomi Ragen, adapted for the Yiddish Rep by Melissa Weisz and Malky Goldman. Director is Rachel Botchan.  The play is a one-act drama of an abused Orthodox Jewish wife who is being kept from her children.

INDECENT Will Be Performed at West Virginia University in 2022

Indecent by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel is inspired by the true events surrounding the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance. Vogel’s Indecent charts the history of a contentious drama and the artists who risked their lives and careers to perform it.

BWW Review: INDECENT, Menier Chocolate Factory

Director Rebecca Taichman and playwright Paula Vogel were both drawn to Sholem Asch’s 1907 phenomenon, God of Vengeance. Their Tony-nominated, highly-acclaimed production has landed in London. A show that plays tribute a stage scandal, this is a heartfelt song to something that nearly never was.
