SINGIN' IN THE RAIN at ACCC to Reunite Director and Star After Almost 20 Years

In an act of theatrical symmetry, full of the 'whimsical magic' only live performance can provide, the first production of Arts Center of Cannon County's 2019 Season - the stage version of Singin' in the Rain - will reunite the director with his leading actress, whom he first cast in her very first musical when she was nine years old. It's been almost 20 years since the last time veteran director Jeffrey Ellis initially worked with Lindsey Mapes Duggin, the director of education for Arts Center of Cannon County, who will lead the cast of Singin' in the Rain as its heroine, young star-to-be Kathy Selden, as well as taking on the role of producer.

The Warner Stage Company will present A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER on the Main Stage February 2-10, 2019. A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder is the knock-'em-dead, uproarious hit and the most-nominated show of the 2014 season. With ten Tony nominations and four wins, including Best Musical, Book, Direction and Costumes, it also earned seven Drama Desk Awards (including Best Musical), four Outer Critics Circle Awards (including Best Musical) and one Drama League Award (Best Musical). When the low-born Monty Navarro finds out that he's eighth in line for an earldom in the lofty D'Ysquith family, he figures his chances of outliving his predecessors are slight and sets off down a far more ghoulish path. Can he knock off his unsuspecting relatives without being caught and become the ninth Earl of Highhurst? And what of love? Because murder isn't the only thing on Monty's mind....

The winner of the 2018 Rob Guest Endowment Award was announced tonight at the conclusion of the Grand Final Event held at Sydney's Capitol Theatre. Competing against five other outstanding Semi-Finalists, Annie Aitken (Melba, Muriel's Wedding) took out the prestigious award after being chosen by an expert panel of judges, which comprised Kellie Dickerson, Jason Langley, Sharon Millerchip and Guy Simpson.

SAFEHOUSE '77 is a site-specific interactive show with a mixture of historical and pop-cultural influences in the exciting world of spy movies. The evening begins after parking in a Bank of America lot a few blocks away from the party house where Connie (Ashley Jones, decked out in high-waisted bell bottom jeans), the sister of our party host, Sharon (Katie Rediger), meets us and goes over a few rules for the evening before escorting us to the party. Just prior to entering, each guest is given an ERA YES badge, every one different in color with an animal sticker in its center. Of course, there is a purpose which soon becomes apparent once the party begins.

I had a chance to talk with Jessica Crowe, who is the founder, one of the directors for the evening, and the owner of Alba Rosa Cat Parlour, which sponsors the Trick 'R Treaters. In Trustus Theatre's 34th Season, Trustus Artistic Director Chad Henderson is looking beyond the Midlands to create the outstanding programs housed within the theatre's walls. In 2019, Trustus Theatre is collaborating with four professional theatre artists from Charleston, SC: Sharon Graci (Artistic Director of Pure Theatre), Janine McCabe (College of Charleston Department of Theatre Chair), Erin Wilson (Pure Theatre Core Ensemble Member), and Scott Pattinson (Actors' Equity Association Member, Pure Theatre Core Ensemble Member). The theatre is also bringing back past Trustus Company Member Baxter Engle and Trustus Company Emeritus Steve Harley. Engle is a professional designer who now lives in New York City working with Production Glue, a live event company. Harley is a professional actor who is based out of Myrtle Beach and is a Company Member at Atlantic Stage.

Black Ticket Project Announces Partnership With CAROLINE, OR CHANGE

In 2017 after seeing a performance of Barber Shop Chronicles at the National Theatre, Tobi Kyeremateng felt compelled to do something to help more young Black people get to the theatre. She set up Black Ticket Project. It raised funds to help people, who have not accessed and do not have the means to access theatre, get their hands on some tickets. Since 2017 the project has helped people see Nine Night, ear for eye, Poet in Da Corner, Misty, Sylvia, Dreamgirls, SUPERBLACKMAN and the BAC Beatbox Academy's Frankenstein. Black Ticket Project is now delighted to be announcing its biggest project to date.

HEAD OVER HEELS Cast Will Perform On The Thanksgiving Day Parade

The cast of Head Over Heels will bring their beat to the 2018 Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS! The parade will be broadcast live from New York City beginning at 9 AM EST on Thursday, November 22. Head Over Heels joins previously announced Broadway cast performances by Dear Evan Hansen and King Kong. Kevin Frazier and correspondent Keltie Knight of 'Entertainment Tonight' will host the three-hour television special featuring portions of the 92nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Emmy Award-winning producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss ('The Tony Awards') serve as executive producers; Weiss will also direct.

SAY HER NAME: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF SANDRA BLAND Debuts On HBO On 12/3

On July 10, 2015, Sandra Bland, a politically engaged and vibrant 28-year-old African American from Chicago, was arrested for a traffic violation in a small Texas town. After three days in custody, she was found hanging from a noose in her jail cell. Bland's death was quickly ruled a suicide, sparking allegations of a racially motivated police murder and cover-up, and turning her case and name into a rallying cry nationwide.
