The 2019 Writer's Guild Awards nominations have been unveiled. The 2019 Writers Guild Awards will be handed out Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Beverly Hilton. See the full list of nominees below!

Variety reports that Carrie Ann Inaba will assume Julie Chen's chair on “The Talk.” She will join the show in January.

Philadelphia Theatre Company welcomes back everyone's favorite princesses for a heart-warming afternoon and evening concert for the entire family. During A Dream Is A Wish: Holiday Princess Concert audiences will sing-along with a gathering of  princes and princesses from popular movie musicals and television shows in a one-day-only event on Sunday, December 16, at 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite prince or princess. After the show, the cast will host  a meet-and-greet reception with holiday cookies, apple cider and photo opportunities. The Holiday Princess Concert will take place at Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (480 S. Broad Street). Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, announced today that the Demon Barber of Fleet Street will terrorize the streets of Foster City with Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's bloody-fun musical thriller, Sweeney Todd.  Hailed as 'a staggering theater spectacle and more fun than a graveyard on the night of the annual skeleton's ball," (New York Daily News), Sweeney Todd will perform at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City) January 24-February 10, 2019. The performance schedule is as follows: Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.; there will be no matinee Saturday, January 26. The Country Music Association will honor the Messina Touring Group's CEO Louis Messina with this year's CMA Touring Lifetime Achievement Award. Messina received the news personally from Country legend George Strait, who made a surprise phone call last Friday morning. Final voting for the CMA Touring Awards, which highlight vital behind-the-scenes members of the touring industry, closes Thursday, Dec. 13. The CMA Touring Awards will take place Monday, Jan. 28 at Nashville's Marathon Music Works. Jerrod Niemann will return to host the ceremony.

It would not be the holiday season without the timeless joy of THE NUTCRACKER! The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory will present the full-length version of the classic tale on the Warner Theatre's Main Stage December 15 and 16. All dance roles will feature trainees of The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory, along with cameo roles performed by children from the Torrington School of Ballet. These budding artists come from all over the country to hone their craft and develop their artistry at The Nutmeg. The mysterious Dr. Drosselmeyer will once again be played by accomplished European stage actor Thomas Evertz.

Hackney Empire today releases production images for Aladdin, its landmark 20th anniversary Christmas pantomime from writer and director Susie McKenna and composer Steven Edis. The celebratory production runs at Hackney Empire until 6 January 2019, with opening night for press taking place this evening.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the appointment of pianist Jeremy Denk to its faculty. A friend of the Conservatory--Denk performed at SFCM's 2016 gala--he will lead a piano studio beginning in the 2019-20 academic year, joining other piano department instructors at SFCM including Paul Hersh, Sharon Mann, Corey McVicar, Yoshikazu Nagai, Jon Nakamatsu, and Garrick Ohlsson

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a delightful family story about the true meaning of Christmas, will open at the Lakewood Theatre Company on Friday, December 14 at 7:30 PM. Performances continue on December 15, 16,  and 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 PM. There will also be matinee performances at 2:00 PM on Saturday Dec. 15, Sunday Dec. 16, Saturday Dec. 22 and Sunday Dec. 23. After the opening night performance on Dec. 14, there will be a hot cocoa and cookie reception.  

NBC has announced the inaugural class for its landmark Alternative Directors Program, the industry's first directing pipeline program for unscripted shows. With the new initiative, NBC takes a step toward equal representation behind the scenes on alternative series – an unserved part of the industry when it comes to inclusion efforts, despite the prevalence of unscripted shows on TV. The program gives experienced female and ethnically diverse directors access to expand their repertoire of alternative formats and complex directing styles with the ultimate goal of opening the door to future projects.
