TheaterWorksUSA Announces its 2019-20 Season

Creating exceptional, transformative theatrical experiences that are accessible to young and family audiences in diverse communities throughout North America, TheaterWorksUSA announces their 2019-20 season with productions on Broadway, throughout New York City, and 11 productions touring around the United States and Canada.  

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company Announces New Leadership

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) has announced that Associate Artistic Director Adam Sanders has assumed the position of Managing Director of CSC. His past position of Associate Artistic Director will be filled by Elliot Norton Award-winning director Bryn Boice, who will be in charge of CSC's Apprentice Program, CSC2 and Stage2, CSC's Shakespeare performances for young audiences. They will both support Artistic Director Steven Maler in continuing the work of CSC for future seasons.

Tom Hanks' NEWS OF THE WORLD Gets Release Date

Variety reports that a Tom Hanks-led historical drama, called 'News of the World,' has set a release date: December 25, 2020, just in time for Christmas.

Previews For TN Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR Begin Tomorrow

Tennessee Shakespeare Company will present a full stage production of William Shakespeare's political play a?oeJulius Caesar.a?? This professional Actors' Equity Association production is the first of the 2019-20 season to perform on the company's Owen and Margaret Wellford Tabor Stage, located at TSC's permanent residence at 7950 Trinity Road in Memphis.

NATIVE GARDENS Opens At Gloucester Stage

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with Karen Zacarías' Native Gardens from September 27 through October 20 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. This contemporary comedy follows high-powered lawyer Pablo Del Valle, and his very pregnant wife, doctoral candidate Tania, who have just purchased a house next door to community stalwarts Virginia and Frank Butley. Soon a disagreement between the neighbors over a longstanding fence line derails their plans of realizing the American Dream.

Palike Theatre Presents STORIES OF KUPUNA

Windward Community College presents Stories of Kūpuna: Lights from the Past October 18 through October 26 at Palikū Theatre. Stories of Kūpuna is a docudrama inspired by the memories and lessons of actual kūpuna (elders) of Hawaiʻi. Heartwarming, comic, and tragic, these dramatized stories share valuable wisdom to upcoming generations.

THE TEMPEST Announced At Seattle Shakespeare Company

Magical spirits aid an exiled duke towards reconciliation and release in Shakespeare's final solo masterpiece, The Tempest. Annie Lareau directs the production which begins previews on Oct. 15, opens Oct. 18 and runs through Nov. 10 at the Center Theatre at Seattle Center.

Almeida Theatre's Production of THE DOCTOR Transfers to The West End In April 2020

Robert Icke's sold-out, five-star Almeida Theatre production, The Doctor, will transfer to the Duke of York's Theatre from 20 April a?' 11 July 2020, with press night on Wednesday 29 April. Olivier Award winner, Juliet Stevenson, 'delivering one of the peak performances of the theatrical year' (The Guardian), will reprise her role as Professor Ruth Wolff.

Full Company Announced For Theatr Clwyd's MOLD RIOTS

Theatr Clwyd today announces further details for the world première of Bethan Marlow's Mold Riots, which will see a community and professional cast bring one of Wales' forgotten dark days to life on the streets of Mold in a large-scale promenade production with locations including Mold Town Council Chamber, Mold cattle market and St Mary's Church. Katie Posner directs Gethin Alderman (Robat), Lauren Fitzpatrick (Margaret), Amy Forrest (Ailis), and Kai Owen (David), alongside a community cast of over 100 from ages 7 to 87, including 30 children.

TRYING IT ON Will Embark on Autumn Tour

Prolific playwright David Edgar is directed in his professional performance debut by triple Fringe First Award-winner Christopher Haydon in a solo show considering the legacy of the events of 1968. In 1968, playwright David Edgar was 20 years old. It was also the year of some of the most important and formative events in modern history, including the Paris student revolt, the assassination of Martin Luther King, Enoch Powell's a?oerivers of blooda?? speech, and the ongoing war in Vietnam. Trying It On is a new play written and performed by David Edgar, which reflects on the legacy of this momentous year, drawing on first-person interviews with some of the leading political figures of the time, as well as contemporary activists. The performance also marks David's first professional stage performance in this autobiographical one-man play.

With its ability to use theater to explore timely topics, Black Theatre Troupe brings the riveting play BREAKFAST WITH MUGABE October 25- November 10 to the Helen K. Mason Performing Arts Center, 1333 E. Washington, Phoenix, AZ 85004. The production is as timely as the notorious Zimbabwe revolutionary and president who recently died in September.
