Bill Kenwright's 'Dazzling' (Sunday Telegraph) production of the international smash hit musical Blood Brothers announces its 2019 Spring tour, opening on Tuesday 29th January at Malvern Festival Theatre. This iconic musical has been visiting theatres across the country throughout 2018, performing to sell-out houses and receiving standing ovations.
Ravinia's Steans Music Institute Announces Bridges Competition

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ravinia's Steans Music Institute (RSMI) last summer, Ravinia launched a competition for composers who could fuse the worlds of jazz and classical music. Due to its success, Ravinia, with the support of DownBeat magazine, is now calling for submissions to the second annual "Bridges" international jazz and classical fusion composition competition, overseen by legendary pianist Billy Childs and double-bassist Rufus Reid, who co-direct the RSMI Jazz Program. Up to three winners will receive the David Baker Prize, named in recognition of the first RSMI Jazz director. The prize includes $2,500 in cash plus the world-premiere performance of the winning piece during Ravinia's 2019 season.

Carnegie Hall's new national youth jazz orchestra, NYO Jazz, featuring 22 gifted young jazz musicians from across the country, ages 16-19, representing 16 states-will make its Carnegie Hall debut this Friday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. NYO Jazz's performance features bandleader and trumpeter Sean Jones, alongside Grammy Award-winning vocalist Dianne Reeves and trombonist Wycliffe Gordon. The program will range from big band standards to the first Carnegie Hall-commissioned works for NYO Jazz, a new piece by saxophonist Miguel Zenon and several new arrangements, as well as other contemporary pieces that explore jazz's influence on hip-hop, R&B, and pop music.

All three ensembles will take part in an intensive training residency at Purchase College, State University of New York before performing at Carnegie Hall and embarking on tours across the country and around the world, serving as America's dynamic musical ambassadors. In total, the musicians of NYO-USA, NYO2, and NYO Jazz represent 36 US states plus Puerto Rico, reflecting both the highest level of musical talent as well as exceptional diversity found across the country. All three programs are free for all participants, ensuring that all aspiring young players who are accepted have the opportunity to take part.

Carnegie Hall today announced that world-renowned jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves and critically-acclaimed trombonist Wycliffe Gordonwill join NYO Jazz as special guest artists for the ensemble's Carnegie Hall debut on July 27, 2018. Following its New York concert, NYO Jazz will embark on its first-ever tour to Europe, which includes performances in The Netherlands, Germany, and Great Britain, July 30 - August 10, 2018. Dianne Reeves will also be featured as a guest artist on NYO Jazz's European tour.
