Wright State performing arts students received coaching and encouragement from Broadway star Leslie Uggams during her inspiring visit to campus yesterday, January 22, 2015. Tony and Emmy winner Uggams also sang several songs, shared stories from her long career and gave heartfelt advice to an audience of students, faculty and community members in the Herbst Theatre in the Creative Arts Center. The event takes place over several city blocks from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius Park. Grammy-nominated jazz artist Joshua Redman will serve as this year's Artist in Residence for the event. Other notable performers include Straighten Up and Fly Right, Sean Jones Quartet, and Phil Woods Quintet. Admission is free to the public and dozens of parking lots in the surrounding area are available for event attendees, including theatre district, Greektown, and Cobo Hall parking facilities. History is being made over at the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre on the UConn campus as Leslie Uggams becomes the first African-American actress to star as Rose in an Equity production with a mixed race cast for the musical Gypsy.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces the line-up for its summer Gallery Crawl taking place tonight, July 11, 2014, from 5:30-10 p.m. The crawl showcases a wide variety of thought-provoking art exhibitions in downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Live bands, DJs, dance, comedy, film, and participatory activities are also part of the complimentary crawl events.

Cardinal announced that Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Leslie Uggams would be starring as Rose in Connecticut Repertory Theatre's (CRT) production of GYPSY: A Musical Fable today, July 10-20.
