A world of jazz just minutes from home, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center has announced the top five finalists of the 11th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. 

Blues/Americana singer/songwriter, producer and recording artist Justine Blazer recently released her newest single called 'Tears of Blue' (co-written with Grammy-nominated composer Armand Hutton).

The musical was conceived to give voice and tell the stories of women who broke prejudices, conquered machismo and opened the doors to the future of humanity. More than a show, Elas Brilham - Vozes que Iluminam e Transformam o Mundo – DOC.MUSICAL intends to celebrate women and open a space for speech, which is so necessary, for them.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents rising jazz vocalist Samara Joy, in two performances, 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Samueli Theater, as part of their Jazz series for the 2022/2023 season.

The Apollo kicks off Apollo Comedy Club and Apollo Music Café shows, starting Thursday, October 6. Performances will take place on Apollo’s Soundstage on October 6, 7, and 8. Doors open at 9PM EST. Shows begin at 10PM EST. Tickets start at $26.50.

Omnivore Recordings will release three special vinyl releases for Record Store Day Black Friday 2022. There will be limited vinyl releases for Janis Joplin and Jorma Kaukonen’s The Legendary Typewriter Tape: 6/25/64 Jorma’s House, Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers’ Jonathan Sings!, and Bobby Cole’s A Point Of View.

George Benson, Billy Eckstine and Phyllis Hyman, are but a few of the extraordinary singers that had roots in Pittsburgh and enriched the vocal jazz tradition. The vocalists who will sing at the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival (PIJF), which runs from September 16-18, will expand and extend on the legacy of their Steel City forebears.

This summer, Carnegie Hall’s national youth jazz orchestra NYO Jazz—which showcases the legacy and bright future of American jazz—returns for its fifth year following performances at Carnegie Hall and successful international tours to Europe and Asia.
