In response to the necessity of keeping the Cape Cod theater-going community safe and healthy during these uncertain times, the board of directors of the Provincetown Theater and artistic director David Drake have elected to postpone their 2020 spring season opener, Mae West's The Drag, until the fall.

La MaMa in association with Allied Productions Inc. presents GENERATOR: Pestilence Part 1, the first of a three-part cycle and the most ambitious live art creation in the 35-year partnership of Jack Waters and Peter Cramer. Known for their challenging and innovative interventions in art and politics, GENERATOR is a homecoming, a return to Waters' and Cramer's theatrical roots at La MaMa where two of their earliest performance works premiered in 1987.

From Mae West to Eugene O'Neill, the Provincetown Theater is proud to announce five very distinguished and distinctive American voices as the headlining playwrights of our 2020 season in Provincetown, MA -- the birthplace of American Theater. La MaMa's 58th Season continues to celebrate the centennial of La MaMa's celebrated founder, the late Ellen Stewart with the announcement of its Winter/Spring lineup in its 58th season. The season features dozens of artists, playwrights, choreographers, directors, and award-winning theater companies and composers, including Elizabeth Swados, Anne Bogart, Noche Flamencia, Culture Hub, Hideki Noda/Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Nick Payne, En Garde Arts, Split Britches, and more.

Performance Space New York continues The Stages Seriesa?"rethinking the dominant form and aesthetics that have informed the stage for centuriesa?"with Martine Gutierrez's Circle (November 20, 22-23).

On December 5th, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe proudly presents a panel with Jeremiah Moss (author of Vanishing New York), Sarah Schulman (author of Gentrification of the Mind) and Betty Yu (co-founder of the Chinatown Art Brigade). These activists and authors will discuss the personal and social impacts of gentrification, and explore effective forms of anti-gentrification activism. The talk will center on the history, and current state, of gentrification in the Lower East Side. Poetic performances by muMs, Caridad De La Luz, and Darian Dauchan will finish out the night.

Performance Space New York continues The Stages Seriesa?"rethinking the dominant form and aesthetics that have informed the stage for centuriesa?"with the world premiere of ray ferreira's to spiral seems to be the only option (December 19-21). ray ferreiraa?"a blaqlatinx performer, born in Queens, via the Caribbean, the Greater Antilles, Hispañola, the Dominican Republica?"uses her so-informed body to make and remake histories with movement and language.

Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce a special Fall season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd St.), September 16-December 2. Organized by guest curators Vivian Crockett, Camilo Godoy, and Carlos Mottaa?"the season, titled Chicas y Fantasmas, explores the shells we inhabit to move through the world. Presented by four contemporary Latinx artists, the season assembles a fierce ensemble of showgirls, cyborgs, glam rockers, and two Chicana teens who defy gendered expectations, ableist norms, and society's limitations to actualize their own self-constructed identities and shape a vision of the world in which they want to live. A full itinerary follows. All screenings begin at 8pm.

Performance Space New York presents the Stages Series (September 2019-January 2020), inviting artists to propose new platforms and conditions that transgress the black box and its institutional walls, positioning performance as an act of creation for and towards the future.

Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, presents a new edition of the After Mentorship series as part of the Food for Thought program at Danspace Project (131 E 10th St, New York, NY) with two evenings of performances by Neil Goldberg & David Antonio Cruz (May 23) and Angela Dufresne & Kerry Downey (May 24). 

The MacDowell Colony has awarded the equivalent of more than $1 million in fellowships to 93 artists from 25 states and seven countries. Fellows will arrive from places such as Chile, Egypt, and Germany, and Mississippi, Michigan, and Maine. They are working in seven disciplines, and 36 percent identify as culturally diverse. The fellowships are for upcoming summer residencies at one of the nation's leading contemporary arts organizations.

Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce the Summer 2019 season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd St.), May 13-August 26. Curated by filmmakers Ira Sachs and Adam Baran, the season features films about (and starring) fierce, funny, and fabulous women, presented by a multigenerational lineup of queer drag icons, playwrights, and performance artists.

May is Lower East Side History Month, and Queer|Art is the new kid on the LES block, having recently relocated their offices from Nolita to the East Village this past year. Heralding their arrival to the neighborhood, they've organized four days of programming throughout May to celebrate the queer past, present, and future of their beloved new East Village home.

Performance Space New York partners with East Village-based queer funk dance party WET NOISE for a celebratory 12-Hour DANCE-A-THON (May 5, 12pm-12am), a fundraising event that couldn't be further from expectations of what a "fundraising event" entails. The DANCE-A-THON revels in filthy funk music, endless dancing, community building, and inclusivity across age, race, gender, sexuality, and class. DJs tag team in sets as a dynamic give-and-take, throughout the night; they include founding DJ Amber Martin along with Patrick Johnson, Ana Matronic (Scissor Sisters), Seth Kirby (Joshua Light Show), Thomas Campbell, and DatKat (O.E.A.).

Curated by Adam Baran and Brooklyn drag diva Lady Quesadilla, this season entitled 'Winter's a Drag,' serves as the sequel to the 2014 Summer of Drag season. More info is below; screenings begin at 8pm.

To start off the new year, the Provincetown Theater is proud to premiere Winter Play Dates, a three month reading series of new American full-length plays.
