Review: Cultural Time Travel - MSMT Presents FLOYDIAN TRIP

With their concert subscription series such a huge success this season, Maine State Music Theatre scheduled one final treat for fans of historic rock ‘n’ roll. On August 19 Pink Floyd tribute band, Floydian Trip, took the stage at the Pickard Theater to present two concerts combining many of Pink Floyd’s signature hits into one single event. The seven musicians comprising the band led the audience on an explosive journey through pulsating sound, visual effects, and recreation of the era of psychedelic rock.

Review: MARTYR at Aki Studio

Marius von Mayenburg’s MARTYR tells the story of a radicalized Christian teenager and his crusade of extremism that damages everyone around him. ARC’s production's sharp, slick direction and assured cast expose some flaws in the idea-heavy script. However, it ultimately succeeds in showing theatre’s great power to ask big, unsettling questions.

BWW Review: THE COLOR PURPLE Captivates Edmonton

Based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer-winning novel, The Colour Purple chronicles young Celie's journey from abused teen to confident woman. Poignant and powerful, the Citadel Theatre's adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical is not to be missed.

THE COLOR PURPLE Opens Citadel's 2019/20 Season

First, a Pulitzer-winning novel by Alice Walker. Then, an Oscar-winning film from Steven Spielberg. Now, the Oprah Winfrey-produced, Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical adaptation hits the Citadel stage. Featuring an array of lively music ranging from old-school gospel to contemporary R&B and an empowering story of resilience, The Color Purple is heartfelt musical theatre at its finest.

THE COLOR PURPLE to Play at The Citadel Theatre

The Color Purple is beautiful, and it's here in Edmonton at the Citadel Theatre Sept. 21 through Oct. 13. THE COLOR PURPLE is an inspiring family saga that tells the unforgettable story of a woman who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world. This musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel (and the popular 1985 Steven Spielberg film) spotlights Celie, a downtrodden young woman whose personal awakening over the course of 40 years forms the arc of this epic story.
