National Youth Dance Company (NYDC), the country's flagship company for young dancers, run by Sadler's Wells, has selected its 10th intake of dancers. The new cohort joins Guest Artistic Director Alesandra Seutin to work on a new piece created by Seutin for NYDC.

Richard Chappell Dance has announced its 2022 season of performances and participatory programmes that will be delivered across the UK next year.

Virtuoso dancer Aakash Odedra set up Aakash Odedra Company (AOC) ten years ago. Now based in its own city centre studios in Leicester, the company aims to be a changemaker in education and the arts, to create a level playing field for neurodivergent artists and to reflect the diversity of its home city.

English National Ballet has returned to live performances with five works by renowned choreographers and rising talents. Created and released as films during the critically acclaimed Digital Season in late 2020, these original pieces are performed live on stage for the first time.

Before we get to the main business of the dancing, let’s focus on what tonight is really all about: the moment the lights go down and there is an announcement, “Welcome to this performance of Reunion by English National Ballet”, and followed by that unique sound of applause and cheering from a socially distanced audience that lasts nearly a minute. If you didn’t already have a lump in your throat from the sight of a velvet curtain and an overpriced glass of wine in a plastic cup, you will now. 

Norwich Theatre and its co-producing partner Valid Productions have announced that they will re-mount and tour On Before, an intensely personal evening of dance conceived, directed and performed by legendary Cuban dancer, Carlos Acosta CBE, as UK venues re-open in July and August 2021. Emerging from the   cultural crisis transformed, this is the first ever touring production from Norwich Theatre. 

Rising is the solo show that launched the extraordinary performer and choreographer Aakash Odedra onto the dance scene. On 24 and 25 May, it will be the first live work back on the main stage at Curve, Leicester where Odedra is an Associate Artist. After that, the show tours to Oxford and Poole.

After over a year without audiences in its building, Leicester’s Curve theatre is gearing up to reopen with a special socially distanced season from the 20 May. Upcoming programming includes a new comedy musical, an acclaimed dance and a Made at Curve concert inspired by the life and career of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and more.

Audiences return to Sadler's Wells from 17 May and  seven productions are scheduled between May and the start of September.

Today Sadler's Wells has announced a special new season of live dance and digital content for Autumn 2020, including further performances for socially distanced audiences at Sadler's Wells Theatre and new details for online programme, Digital Stage In Focus.

English National Ballet today has announced its revised plans for Autumn 2020, as the Company's previously scheduled performances have been cancelled due to the continuing impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) joins the worldwide celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birthday with its presentation of Trois Grandes Fugues, featuring three interpretations of the composer's complex a?oeGrosse Fugea?? from a trio of trailblazing female choreographers a?" Lucinda Childs, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, and Maguy Marin a?" danced by Lyon Opera Ballet. The engagement will play The Joyce Theater from March 18-22. This show, by the company of ex-Principal dancer at The Royal Ballet, Carlos Acosta, gives the audience a mixed bill, as up close as the title suggests, with as much Cuba as you would find in a hand-rolled cigar.

Tickets are on public sale from Monday 10 February 2020 for new shows announced at Sadler's Wells across 2020, featuring five world premieres, 10 UK premieres, and six Sadler's Wells Productions and co-productions, as well as a host of new creative partnerships involving artists from all over the world.

Loved by children and adults around the world for generations, the classic tale by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has been given a fresh and witty new adaptation using Luca Silvestrini's distinctive blend of dance, humour, words and music. Following its premiere at DanceEast for Christmas 2018 and 2019 tour, including a Christmas run at The Place in London, the show returns with the theatre tour and also a new adapted version especially made for for rural areas and smaller venues. Audiences will be invited to join the Little Prince as he journeys through a weird and wonderful universe, meeting fascinating characters along the way whilst learning about the value of friendship and love.

Seattle-based Khambatta Dance Company collaborates with South Korean dance companies Braveman and Unplugged Bodies at the 3rd Annual Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) Winter Mini-Fest. Choreographers Jaewoo Jung, Kyoung-Shin Kim and Cyrus Khambatta will unite elements of their collective dance backgrounds to present four emotionally charged performances over two weekends. The four-performance festival ends with a new piece produced in just six days. This highly anticipated premiere is a rewarding experience for all involved and one of the signature components of SIDF.

The 3rd Annual Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) Winter Mini-Fest features three celebrated choreographers/dancers: Seattle-based Khambatta Dance Company's (KDC) artistic director Cyrus Khambatta, as well as Jaewoo Jung and Kyoung-Shin Kim from the South Korea-based dance troupe Unplugged Bodies. Together they will unite elements of their collective dance backgrounds and present four emotionally charged performances over two weekends.

Now in its 5th year, renowned international dance competition Popcity UK returns to London in January 2020 bringing together world-renowned dance artists and the UK Hip Hop and Popping community with UK-based dancers, international judges, guest performers and live DJs in one of the first Hip Hop events of the year in the capital. Winners will have the chance to represent the UK at the Popcity Finals in East Asia in December 2020. Activities leading up to the competition, which takes place on Saturday 25 January, include an inspirational training intensive led by London's pioneers of Hip Hop and taster sessions for locals in the London Bridge area throughout winter. The main battle event will be streamed using Instagram Live. Popcity UK vol.5 is presented by Fiya House, funded by Arts Council England, and supported by Shoreditch Town Hall and Team London Bridge.
